i heard airtel is giving this nu 3g sims..
and we can surf on our comps connecting the 3g cell vit the comp......
i dont kno abt the price of the sims or any xtra features abt it..
can any one put some light on this topics abt wether tis wud b a good deal or not....?

the sim supports 3g, but airtel does not have the 3g license yet, so at best u will get gprs+edge services...

GPRS / EDGE / 3G do not require separate sim cards, as long as the carrier and the phone support the technology you will have access to it. Even with your present sim card. Assuming you have a decade old simcard, you can exchange it with a new one for free, just visit the customer care.

Private cellcos are still waiting for spectrum allocation process to start.

Are you sure? I heard MTNL Delhi customers required to get a new sim to use 3G services.

Airtel 3g will be max out in end of 2009 cos whole license thing will sort out in next 4 months or so and be ready for costly plans.

There is no reason why that should be required, unless MTNL were dishing out old SIMs in the first place.

Nothing can be said. The allocation process was supposed to start on Jan 15, 09. But date keeps on getting postponed. Had D Maran been made the Telecom Minister, process was expected to be sped up, but once again A Raja has been handed the reins.

I dont know why but new sim cards are required for accessing 3G services.

When the BSNL 3G network was tested in Pune, new sim cards were given to the beta testers.

All the networks are giving new sim cards to those who want to access 3G services(BSNL,MTNL,Airtel. Dont know about Vodafone).
