i want a 42 incher asap. lcd or plasma both are fine.

getting a deal on lg42 scarlet for rs. 52000, but 2 places told me then are shutting down and the jazz is for rs. 57000

well what are u going to watch,if its just SD well u can certainly go for another HD plasma like pv80,but if u do watch HD and gaming i would go the lcd way look at samsung series 5 and if u up ur budget get the sony S or V series, better then samsung series 5 in terms of contrast, input lag.

I got the Jazz 42 in Jan. At that time too, most dealers were only having the Jazz on display and I saw the Scarlet at a very few places. The major difference between the Jazz and the Scarlet is the sound output. The Jazz has amazing sound with multiple subwoofers. If you have /planning a Home theater setup then maybe you can go the for the scarlet otherwise for a similar picture and better sound the Jazz is a good option. I did observe that the Jazz did not have a good clarity on SD for local TV channels at the dealers place, to which the dealer told me that they attach multiple TVs to a single input connection and picture quality was usually better if you attach a single TV only. He did demo that as well and I did try some movies which I was carrying on a pen drive as Jazz supports movies of a pen drive. The sound and picture were excellent on the Jazz and I never tried the same on the Scarlet as the sound quality sold me completely towards the Jazz. At home, the Jazz works nice on the SD mode even though I have vanilla cable tv and do not have Dish.

thanks for that. i want to know what files does the scarlet support and the jazz too. i too shall carry and test it out. i guess they want to promote the jazz more so they are shutting the scarlet but i love the way it looks. sound is not imp. since in future i will get the home threatre connected to the same. just let me know which files are supported. going today thanks again.

It supports both divx and xvid encoded files. However it is picky with xvid based files as I have seen it not work with some files. You can take a mix of both and try. I did get a free LG USB based dvd player along with the TV. The files which did not play on the TV didnt work on the LG dvd player too so I was not really worried about those. I just attached the TV to my PC and watched them.

Actually got it in Jan when they had the dvd player, movie dvds and a 2gb mp3 player free with the Jazz. It was a nice deal I think.

well dont go by the advertized dynamic contrast the lg real ansi contrast is about 1000:1 where the series 5 is close to 2000:1 ansi contrast.

well the i know most people by lg just and panasonic lcds because of the extra 2 inches, but what good is a tv it it cant show details in shadow regions thats where tv with higher contrast makes a difference.

If you take LG LCD, you get DVD player with 50 DVD free.

This offer is still going on.

are u sure. both kohinoor and vijay sales said there is no offer like that.

i've been stuck in the very same dilemna, and all i can say is that unless u'r HD viewing is very significant or room is very bright , go for the panny/sammy plasmas. SDTV looks much much better, and HD also aint that bad, they being 720p sets.

so i bought a 42 lg scarlet today. will get it 2 days later since year ending and all purchasing for them has stopped. i liked the samsung too will get one after 6 months which will be 6 series and a 46 incher, hopefully the price shall be lower then. i got the scarlet for rs. 51000 in exchange for a 21 inch toshiba crt tv. so i guess i got 4k for the old tv, which is a good deal rather than waiting for it to sell here:). will post pics later... thanks everyone for the inputs.
