46" HDTV Suggestion EDIT: Bought Sony 46W700A

I was in the market and looking at the same television of Sony 46w700A, I wanted to know if Sony currently supports formats such as mkv, avi, mpeg, mpeg4 just out of the box or should i need a media box for conversion?

Im not sure abt connectivity wiyh wd mybook but you dont have to buy any external wifi adapte or dongle. Just a couple of steps to set up wifi on the tv.[DOUBLEPOST=1381918687][/DOUBLEPOST]

Haven't checked other the formats except mkv. IIRC last the tv did not play mp4 format. I have been playing mkv mostly on the TV
 
I got it for 81k in May.. I have added this tv to my workgroup and play stuff directly from TV's file manager.. does not play FLV

Not exactly sure about this particular model but i got a sony 32w67 and it can play most of the formats including mkv, mpeg4 and avi.

I have tested 9gb 1080p mkv file and it played that perfectly without any hiccup. Only one time it refused an old 480p avi file that it played without video.

Thanks for the info, Why I particularly asked is because of this, though its 2013 television the w700, just wanted to know before I went to the market to audition the tv.

Np, again not sure if it can play all video formats available till date but it can play almost all movies stored in my external hdd. That includes most popular formats including mkv, avi, mp4 files as stated in your previous post.
