1. Budget?
A: INR 10k-15k
2. Preferred display size, type and resolution?
A: 5.0"-5.5", IPS LCD/AMOLED, FHD and above
3. Preferred operating system? (Android (with version), iOS, Windows Phone etc).
A: 6.0+ preferred with updates to 7/8

A: 3/4G + Volte
5. Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: Only want those which have proven track record of updating their phones to the next OS version. So not interested in brands like Huawei, Micromax, Karbon etc who dish out phones on KK/ LL/ MM and don't update them at all.
6. What is your intended use for this phone (internet, camera, multimedia, mails etc.)?
A: Multimedia, mails and browsing. Games if the device is good enough.
7. Single SIM/ Dual SIM?
A: Dual sim required.
8. New or Used? Online or Offline?
A: New. Any if I can get it in my budget.
9. Any other requirements?
A: Need good battery backup, microSD card slot if internal storage < 32GB.
At least 3/4GB ram. Fingerprint Sensor.

10. If you have already considered a phone, then please mention the model
A: not yet.
* - Require those that support LTE bands 40 / 41/ 43 and 900/ 1800/ 2100 / 2300 / 2500. I'm not sure about these bands because Idea site says they have 4G on the 2100 band. I think voda is on the 1800 or lower band. Not sure though.
Plus according to some news reports Idea bought bandwidth in the 2300 & 2500 range. Also BSNL seems to be operating in the 2300 range. Weirdly lot of good phones don't seem to have the 41/43 and 2300 /2500 bands support. They stop at 40 and 2100.
I haven't seen people complaining about their voda or idea or bsnl phones not working so either some sort of sharing is going on here between the operators or something else. Just to be safe I hope to get a phone supporting all these bands.
Just a preliminary search gave me phones like Samsung On8 (overpriced since its proccy is slower than SD625) , Zuk Z2 Plus ( lots of bugs! ), Asus Zenphone ( overpriced ), Phab 2? ( no N update ) etc which support these bands. I don't know if Asus and Samsung or Lenovo will give Nougat update to these phones though.
Edit: apparently Idea added 2100, 2300 and 2500 (wth!) bands in their kitty according to their news updates on their site.
