PC Peripherals 5.1 Speaker setup.. which 1 to go for ?

i think a 2.1 setup is good enough for desktop use provided the 2 speakers in use have good imaging.....

u can try M-Audio stuff..... good sound quality at reasonable rates..... also easily available in India.....
 
umm.. currently i am running the onboard card of Asus A8v-VM that goes by " Soundmax integrated Digital HD audio"

I did see the creative audigy value being sold here for around 1500.. hows that ?

I personally witnessed The Altec Lansing MX, it just blows u off if u set the equis rite. and i've also experienced Logitec Z series trust me it aint for GOOD music may be surround but thats where it stops, i aint saying its bad,its not on par with MX in quality of sound and the Shrill u wont even notice.

DeMoNvmp has DTS 5.1 now, u see the real 5.1 in action but its around 27k 2year back so now it may be 20. so if u want to have good music(say FLAC codec playing highQ music choose MX) or if u want the surround and nothing but the surround then go for Z, if u want both u have to spend a lil higher.

I have Creative SB LIVE 7.1 Sound card . i m looking for decent speaker . budgate is around 3-4 K . i m confused between Altec Lansing and Creative .

I m not gammer . i mainly using it for Music and Movies .

Any idea which particular model should i buy ?

Altec Lansing, followed by Creative Inspire , followed by Artis ... imo :)
 
For Music : 2, 2.1

For Movies/Games : 5.1.

Most most the 5.1 setups intended for PC are not suited for Music. So If your main purpose is Music, then go for a decent 2.1 set.

Altec Lansing rules in the sub 5k range. The Altec Lansing 251 is a decent 5.1 set. But beware of duplicates that seem to plague the market. I am not sure about it, but I have seen a 251 at a shop some time back which looked as if it was a cheap duplicate of the 251 I got. As far as speakers are concerned, I would avoid all the Creative's under the sub 10k range. Most of them have average performance a bit more than they should. I havn't listened to the Artis, but they seem to be on par with the Creative's.
 
thnx for reply guys . i read the specs of Altec Lansing 251 . it has Shielded Satellite . so lets say i want to extend the wiring and put 4 of my speaker in 4 corners . is it possible ?
