Hey guys..

I am looking forward to buy a good 5.1 Speaker System in the range of 4-6k...

My purpose would be for -
XBOX 360
DVD Player ( watching movies )
Listening to songs
and sometimes watching TATA SKY

The thing is , i want to connect the speakers to a LCD TV ....
Is this possible and can i get surround sound ( In games , movies and on tata sky ) by connecting the speakers to a LCD TV?

I am thinking of buying the Logitech X540 ...Is it good ?

Thanks :)

Lets see:

Xbox 360 - For 5.1 o/p from Xbox the only choices are optical and HDMI. unless the speaker has an optical input you wont get surround sound.

Songs - For songs stereo is the best.

Tatasky - Tata sky does not have a surround o/p.
i really dont think going for a 5.1 set up with 5-6K budget is a good option .....ant theres more you are not even connecting it to a PC ( only way you can get true surround o/p at your budget)

I would urge you to go for a good 2.1 setup (the MX 5021 or any other of the same class)rather than going for a mediocre 5.1 speaker (which you wont be using to their full potential...5.1). with your budget you will get much better soud Q if you go for 2.1.

Ohk..So if i buy a MX 5021 , will i be able to get surround sound from LCD TV , XBOX etc?

And how much does it cost?

Also , does it have an optical input?

I am thinking of buying the LOGITECH Z323 speakers...Are they good ?and can i connect them to LCD TV , XBOX , DVD player etc?

MX5021 is a 2.1 speaker set so you cant expect surround ..just pseudo surround

it costs around 6 K ....so it suits your bill.

and no they do not have optical input.

just the audio cables( the audio L/R ones) with your xbox/DVD/TV/tata sky will do just remember they have only one input so you will have to buy a switch that lests you switch between these ...thy are not really costly..opt for a good one though.

I was in a similar situation. I settled for some cheap 5.1 for about 2.2k (after listening to its sound - which was surprisingly good for a speakers of that budget) and am saving up for the Z5500 which i will get in a few months.

If you can, then save money and buy it, since it is truly amazing. :)

your best option with little hassle would be to get mx5021 and connect it to the headphone out(3.5mm jack) of ur tv....

I think X-540 will be good if u wanna connect to X-540 as they have a video game connector.

Also whats the price of Z-5500 ?

am in the same boat

gonna get a new 42 lcd...the lh90 ..most prolly within a week

and my current 5.1 is a very puny phillips ht system which hangs a lot

so even am thinkin of connectin my mx 5021 to the lcd for the time being.till i get a decent ht system..

the mx 5021 is loud enuf.....and the base is great too.

guess u need a Stereo Mini Jack (3.5mm) to Left and Right RCA Plug Y-adapter

Audiogear.com

can neone suggest where to get this y adapter locally

^Why do you need that, may I ask? You can connect it to the 3.5mm jack behind the TV or by the side of it. There should be minimal or almost no difference in the output and the SQ.

Besides, the MX5021 bundles a 3.5mm female to 2x RCA female jack with the speakers. So you should probably buy a male RCA to male RCA adapter/extender cable. Hunt the local electronics shops in your locality.

Bro, are you aware of any 2.1 or 5.1 speakers with Optical SPIF In ?

afaik there is only one 5.1 system below 20k that takes optical in and that is z5500
