Storage Solutions 500gb 7200rpm 2.5" hdd

Hi all,

I post here as a last resort. Since I live in the stone-aged city of Indore, I can't seem to find an upgrade of 500gb 7200rpm laptop hdd.

Please help me, if anyone at TE has a brand new one. Dealers are welcome to make an offer.

Lynx-India.com has a drive from wd WD5000BEKT for 3575/- and also Seagate ST9500420AS on theitdepot.com is selling for 5150/- but I intended to buy it locally, so that i could exchange it for my current wd 250gb laptop hdd.

What do you guys suggest? Should I buy it from Lynx-india.com?

Those are both 5400 RPM's. I ordered one from US eBay. Getting for 4K, inclusive shipping & customs.

Lynx-India does not have stock. Plus I dont trust amabir.

Sour Grapes!

Bought one 5400 rpm today, for 2800/-, Seagate ST9500325AS. Sold my old HDDs (One 2.5" internal SATA 250gb 5400rpm WD, and one 3.5" internal Parallel ATA 250gb 7200rpm Seagate, both out of warranty) and got this one for 400/-.

I don't feel good for sure, but considering the laptop itself is going to be 3 years old in april this year, its okay.

Maybe I'll buy a new one this year and definitely a 7200rpm hdd with that one...

Isnt that price somewhat on the higher side?

Hey, may be it's a hearsay and not exactly appropriate for the context , but there is a belief that using 7200rpm disks in a laptop will result in a lot amount of heat. Unless the heat dissipation is very efficient in the laptop there is a high probability of malfunctioning of other internal components.

May be there is a reason why 7200 2.5" hard disks ain't so popular
