Laptops 5400rpm vs 7200rpm in laptops

The difference in price is ~4k for a 250GB hdd in Dell. 7200rpm ones are too expensive compared to their 5400 counterparts.

Is it worth the buck?

I have heard reviews saying it makes a lot of sound, etc..

If I am planning to use this lappy for the next 5 years, should I go for the 7200rpm?
 
I've 200GB, 7200rpm hdd for my XPS 1530M. Make is seagate. It never makes any noise, always runs cool, even while gaming.

But have heard 7200rpm ones use more battery compared to their 5400 counterparts, never tested it though.
 
7200 ones do give a better performance but at the expense of lower battery life..

so think accordingly, and i have a 7200 drive and i do not see any significant increase in performance nor any significant decrease in battery life.. so i guess both of the things are just marginal..

So my advice would be to stick to whatever u'r with, dont upgrade just for the change in rpm, but if ur upgrading than give 7200 ones preference over 5400..
 
well, had read a review for the 7200 rpm disks for the PS3, apparently they do make a little more noise than usual and didnt decrease load times by much...

for laptops may decrease ur boot time but will definitely consume more power..
