Laptops 5738g??

hey guys..i've been on TE since a long time..but posting first time cause i'm quite a noob with comps..and joined TE mainly for autozone and also cause of my friend faheem..
i need help in buying a laptop..i need something in mid range around 35-45k..
basically it will be used for movies, songs, net, Photoshop, auto cad, casual gaming (NFS, GRID n other racing games)
i have zeroed in on acer aspire 5738g
(2.2ghz T6600, 4gb RAM, 320gb Hdd, ATI HD4570)
is this the right choice for my usage? how is acer in the long run? i'll be mostly using this lappy for atleast another 3 years.. as of now i only find one disadvantage in 5738g and that is its weight 2.8kg..(although its nothing compared to my weight :p ) i hope it wont be too difficult to carry around..
thanks

Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 41862CQ @44k is the best at its price range in India. But if you can import one from US, you can get better lappy.

GT240 is way better than the 4570.

[OT] Heya bharat.. nice to see u here.. [/OT] :p

A friend of mine is using the same laptop.. Its quite decent considering the price it retails for.. As far as the weight is concerned, mine weighs around 4.7 kgs.. so 2.8 is nothin.. :p

@sabby thanks..i'll look for it..although havent spotted any lenovo in the stores..one of my friend has a lenovo and he's not exactly happy with it.

@kauzy

[O/T]hey dude.nice to see you too.long time man.[O/T]

yeah i agree 2.8kg is not much and that is why it is not a major concern for me. a good backpack will do the trick. all i'm worried about is reliability and after sales service of acer.

yeah, Me too not a big fan of lenovo lappy. But the newer ones are way better than the olds. Besides, at that price range, no other laptop can beat it. And for the record, lenovo provide very good after sales service. :)

Did the laptop come with any OS ?

And is the price including taxes ?

It seems a lot cheaper than the online price for the same configuration...

^^ i had checked inspiron 14 also. it costs around 45k. are you sure the price is so low? too much of a difference even if it is without the OS.

i'm getting acer aspire 5738g for 40 to 41k most of the places. and getting it for 38.5k from an acer dealer. how is the deal at 38.5k?

and the sales person at xcite store in ahmedabad told me that after sales service of acer and compaq is taken care of by HP. is this true?

^^ Yup.. The price is including all taxes, Windows Vista and a 15-month McAfee license.. quotes are from PrimeABGB and Mahavir @ Lamington

Yes the pricing is correct only...but the ATI4330 is the worst you can get for Gaming (IGP aside)..Inspiron 14 is ideal for mobility...and when you are going in for Dell, please buy it online and you will get the best deal...

Online ? Best deal ? No way man! This deal costs atleast 40K online...

^ You can do sensible bargaining with a DELL executive on the phone when you make a online DELL direct purchase.

@Hummer_freak , The Acer 5738G is a killer deal for 38.5k , just need to know - how good the after sales service is with Acer .:)

are you sure you are getting the ddr3 version? thats the newest and the one i have. there was a limited run of ddr2 5738G's. i dont know if they sell those anymore, but i would take the ddr3 version (newer chipset: pm45)

and opt for the complete care package, 3 years on site warranty for 5.5k and 3 years workshop drop @4500. i took the former.

I had a acer 5536G bought from singapore.
I sold it within 3 months.

It had a LED screen, 4GB RAM, 15.6", optical out, 5.1, 500GB HDD... But somehow i never liked it because of the below 2 reasons:
very bad touchpad
battery bad not good
the keyboard somehow did not suit me for typing:(

bought for 42k sold for 37k

Get the new Dell Studio 15 with Core i-3 350M(2.26Ghz, 2 cores, 4 threads :D)
3gb DDRIII RAM, 320gb Hdd, 512MB ATI HD4570, 5 colors to choose from, Genuine Windows 7 Home premium - 40.9k(inclusive of taxes)
http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=s541033in8&c=in&l=en&s=dhs&cs=indhs1
Delivery charges is 900 extra.
Dell's after sales service is onsite so its better than to run around lugging your laptops to get it serviced.
My personal and my friend's experience are they turn up the next business day when a problem is reported(max 2 days)

I wonder how many 4570s have been bought by DELL/ACER/HP India so that they are still giving only 4570. No sign of models with newer cards which are available in US for quite a time.
