5Net issues

Hi.
My download speed as measured by Speedtest is as follows:


However, I don't go above 768Kb/s, HTTP as well as torrents.
The connection is nominally a 768Kb/s one. Any clue as to why Speedtest is reporting such high speeds?
 
@TechHead - Which plan do you have ? When i had 5net, they had this speed burst thing, which gave u uncapped speeds on almost everything else except torrents and File Sharing sites. Maybe that is the case ?
 
Maybe they've given a higher priority to the HTTP-S protocol, and capped speeds for the torrent/p2p protocol which is quite common with the isp's today.
 
I guess the issue is that...

we talk in KBps that is Kilo Bytes per second [or MBPS]

and these sites and service providers talk in Kbps i.e. Kilo Bits per seconds..

Thus it looks a large number....

To get it in KBps..divide Kbps by 8...

^5Net gives u uncapped speed on most Limited MB plans. I used to get around 2-3 MBps (still don't care of the B or the b, i am talking about the realtime speed in flashget :P) on HTTP downloads. But nowadays afaik, they have put in most of that speed in the local DC++ Lan hub they have setup for their customers. Guys get around 4-5 MBPS from each other. But HTTP is still fast. According to them, it's better to just give the guy a speed burst and get his job done instead of him hogging bandwidth for a long time :P Also this way many people get their plans expired by mistake :rofl:
 
^Yaar, I'm still not seeing such speeds even on the DC++ hub. Crazy stuff available there though! I'm not going over 250-300 kB/s on the hub.
 
^Don't think he is. AFAIK , wasn't 5Net stopped in Navi Mumbai ? Coz that's the reason i had to shift to 24Online.
 
^^ Sudhir , Five Net is back in Navi Mumbai including Nerul :P This is confirmed. and guess who is providing the service ? SSV cables .

So you can get your 24online connection changed to Five net by paying 500RS. extra during your next renewal.

I will be switching to 5 net soon. :)

^^ Same here dude... download speeds from the HUB have reduced totally!!

Before I used to get arpund 3-4mbs/sec downloading speeds... but now its reduced to just 100-200kbs/sec

Dammit!! There are a whole lot of HD movies i wanne download :@

Get your external HDDs over! Got around 2TB.. you don't live too far away!

i guess, thrs no use of moving to 5Net if thr is no good speed on DC.

SSV is advertising 5Net in da name of DC nd Rs 500 xtra

SSV is such a a$$hole that they will shut down DC totally if they get descent amt of users on 5Net.
