Review 6 Months with the CAT S22 Flip – My Experience

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using the CAT S22 Flip for the past six months, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. I originally picked it up because I wanted a rugged, distraction-free phone, and overall, it has delivered on that front.

One of the first things I did was unlock VoLTE and VoWiFi, which significantly improved call quality. The phone itself is built like a tank—drops, water, and dust are non-issues. Battery life is decent, lasting me about a day and a half with moderate use.

The biggest win for me? I’ve reduced my screen time by 60% and, in turn, boosted my productivity at work. Without constant notifications and mindless scrolling, I focus better and feel less drained by the end of the day.

That said, Android Go is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s functional but sometimes sluggish, and while it’s still technically a "smartphone," I don’t feel tempted to use it the way I did with a regular touchscreen phone.

For anyone considering the CAT S22 Flip, I’d say it’s a solid option if you want durability and minimal distractions but still need occasional access to apps like Maps or WhatsApp.

Is the flip hinge joint strong enough to survive kids or occasional falls? Or is it like other flip phones handle hinge with care. I too want to own one no-nonsense rugged phone as daily driver. But my kids are brutal and I think a normal flip phone wont see another day.
