Great performance at the price but its noisy. HD 6950(unlocked to 6970) CF

6) What is your preference for ...

i) Nvidia

ii) ATI/AMD

neither. I buy which provides the best performance within my budget

i) Asus

ii) EVGA

iii) Gigabyte

iv) MSI

v) Palit

vi) Powercolor

vii) Sapphire

ix) Zotac

x) Other (Mention Brand)

I prefer MSI, Sapphire, Powercolor & Palit. I usually stay away from ASUS after a couple of cards failed & I had a horrendous time RMAing from Rashi

1) Gaming [5], HD movies [3 -- atleast home PC needs the 9400GT to decode HD content MY BASILISK has a quad-core so no need there], Animation [3 -- again currently have a ATi card, but have experienced CUDA and plan to shift to nVidia once Tesla is out c. Q2 2012].

2) Maximum ~ 15000/-, sweet spot around -- 11000/-.

3) New graphics card when the need is acute to the point that I need else work [gaming] will not proceed.

4) Again depends if I need a new system I'll purchase it, else incremental upgrades [some RAM, more HDD's, a more powerful SMPS and so on].

5) Noisy fan but good performance and doesn't guzzle too much power.

6) ATi I've noticed has always performed well for gaming with me [have used a X700 and a HD 5770], for nVidia I will buy it in the next upgrade cycle so lets see [I have a 9400GT but it's performance is medicore in all games, my X700 performed better].

7) For brands, I vouch for --

Powercolor (X700), MSi (HD 5770), Sapphire (most friends use it), Zotac (most preferred nVidia brand now, with better A.S.S. than XFX).

Hope this helps in your survey. Cheers!! Sire.
