It'll be better to wait for sometime before buying to make sure there are no issues with it as with the 7200.11 series.

Excellent speed and a great HDD so far (fingers crossed).
 
So what about warranty is it 3 year or 5 years....

I will Wait for WD to match that speed,If seagate has 3 year warranty

@ From another topic has techie_007 said that new The warranty reduction to 3 years is applicable ONLY on HDDs sold after 3rd Jan, so existing batches.

Very good news. Thought of getting a 1Tb from WD soon. Will wait for the 1TB version and some reviews before picking one up, running out of space really fast :P. Will also wait and see what WD is offering.
 
Funny thing is, I'm happily RAIDing 2 Raptors bought at 8~9 odd each and didn't cringe at the price. But the thought of RAIDing 2 of the 500 GBs at 6 for the pair is making me cringe at a 1 TB of RAID0 :S !

I also cringe when burning CDs of 20~30 MBs of data even they though they come at 5 bux a piece :ohyeah: !

I think I'll rather go for a SSD for my OS when and if my Raptors fail. And get these as secondary drives. But for someone looking to buy new drives, these just rock!

Hoping for Seagate or WD come out with smaller drives with the same perf for idiots like me :P !

Raptors dont touch the SSDs with a pole. Outrageous access times. :P

How abt SSDs in RAID-0? :P

Wow, here's someone after my own heart.
Im very much the same. I don't feel like spending a premium on storage that's larger than what i need for OS+games. It just doesn't seem right....

so there is no 160gb versions? so minimum size is 250gb?
