Graphic Cards 740N Screen Burn

Switch

Guide
Welll usually i dont have a steady desktop for hours but this time i did put on a wallpaper and disabled the screensaver couple of days ago... The desktop was constantly on for like 12+ hours... And now i notice that there is a screen burn issue of the wally on the LCD... I can see the faded wallpaper on the desktop with a skyblue background...

I have switched off the monitor for couple of hours and keeping my fingers crossed that the burn fades away... Does other 740N owners face a similar issue... Let me know... I will try to post pics later...

Yup turn it of at night and it will be fine tomorrow morning. Burn-in stays on permanently on CRTs and Plasma's, LCD's are fine :)

I heard this but I once kept a CRT on for 15 hours, and nothing happened.... could it have been luck? I won't try that again soon....;)

Well a couple of years ago, i locked my system at work and forgot it like that. came in the next day, rebooted it and everytime i used to open a blank window, i could see the outline of the "Press Ctrl + Alt + Del" window in the middle of the screen. But now we hv only lcd's at office, and this never happens on them.

I had once left my Hyundai L70N LCD on for more than 13 hrs on the same page... I hate screensavers and so I had it off. I went to a frnds place and stayed there all night....

When I came back I saw the LCD on...and was wondering if it would be burnt...but nothing happened. I guess I always keep the brightness quite low...thats what kept it in proper condition... Also I guess the "BoE HyDis panel" for Hyndai is better than Samsung 740N's panel.

Exactly ! I do it even when I'm moving out for 2 mins :p

@ Switch - Any improvement mate ?

A little out of the topic though.... but I wanna say something about CRT's here!! Switching CRTs on/off regularly (2min)...does cause a problem to the tubes and also the capacitors...

Im not sure if it affects plasmas and LCDs as well...But I guess they do!!

Ummmm.......why don't you turn off the monitor when you step away from the PC?

you know I've kept the brightness on my 940BW to just 10 (max is 100), and the contrast is just 36 (max 100).... and the screen still looks quite bright to me. I guess I won't have this problem with this screen, and kudos to samsung for making this one so that it looks great at such low settings....

btw I've got a samsung trilogy now..

940BW 19" wide
997DF 19" CRT
1100DF 21" CRT

I started a thread on this same problem... and I have posted a solution too... Actually I got my 740N Panel replaced by Samsung for this problem and the new one does not have this Ghost effects.

The answer to this problem is to run a screen saver of a pure white screen for 15 - 20 minutes.
