Graphic Cards 7800GTX .... Strange clocks

i got mine card yesterday after installing all thing i looked at the clock speeds and it was core 275Mhz and memory 1255Mhz ...... i was confused then i saw while playing games the core speed is increased ..... when there is no load on it its running slow ..... thats nice feature like C&Q ....

but the problem is mine XFX is clocked at 490/1255 ..... but as i have seen there are only two models from XFX one at 450/1250 and another 490/1300 ..... so mine clocks seems a bit odd .... i didn't got any Tshirt in the package as other people got earlier but i got farcry DVD, moto GP2, and X2 ..... i think farcry was not there in the bundle before ......

anyway anyone has any idea about the clocks on mine XFX .... currently i am playing with PEGLINK on the motherboard and will post if it helps .....

Yeah the 275Mhz one is the 2d clock speed whereas the 490Mhz is the 3d clock speed. You dont need the card to be at full speed for 2d performance. So the core is throttled down to 275Mhz and the fan also spins down i guess. Just chk it out using rivatuner. When a 3d app is detected the core goes to 490Mhz. yeah those clock speeds are weird though since i have seen 7800GTXs with 450/1250 and 490/1300 speeds only. The tee was a limited time promo i guess.
 
But good you got FarCry better then the Tee anyday... I guess XFX has started offering FarCry along with thier High end cards... I got a Copy too with a PCix based 6600GT two days back :)...
 
game performance i think too good :) ..... i can play almost all games with full details with max AA and AF .... was just playing halflife2 its a whole new game again ..... water quality is tooo good and all other thigs looks too real ....... way better than mine 6600GT ......

Guys can u educate me on 2D & 3D thing.
How does GPU automatically change speeds for 2D & 3D enviornment.
Heard this for the first time , is this feature there on every card.

also where to check 2D & 3D clocks.
I have never benchmarked any 3D card other than my Nvida Riva TNT 8MB ;)
 
try riva tuner to chk 2d and 3d clocks ...... but i don't think it will work on riva tuner i tried it very long time back and it was not showing any clocks

Display Properties, if u do some regedit that opens up the option to OC the card...
 
problem figured out its normal 450/1250 card but riva tuner is having some problem it is not detecting the corect clocks ..... its always 40Mhz more than wat i have like if i OC the card to 490 it will slow 540 ..... anyways in nvidia driver options it showing correct ....
