Hi guys,
:hap2: I am going to buy a new gpu i.e 7900Gt but the only thing is that i don't know which brand is good.

Prime abgb has BIG 7900gt is it better than xfx card.

Plz recommend a good brand. :D

Thanks in advance

Definitely XFX, Leadtek... about BIG, the less said the better.

BTW, what kind of pricing have you received so far? I'm also interested but have no clue as to how much they cost right now. thxxxx.

XFX and Leadtek has the best quality and warranty in India. You can also try Sparkle, but not sure about after sales support. But definitely BIG is a no no for costly high end cards. Yeah me too interested in the current pricing. The last I heard Sparke had the best pricing for 7900GT at 17k. Let us know the current pricing when you find out.

one more thng. Avoid the stock overclocked versions of the card. their failure rate seems to be a bit more.

:) Thanks guys,:)
I have not yet asked for the price of BIG gpu.

btw how abt asus 7900gt  & if going for a pre o/c card then which brand is better.
:ohyeah: I have seen reviews on newegg abt xfx pre o/c 7900gt Gpu & it seems to be very good.:ohyeah:

hmm i got BIG, its been 3 months now and nothing has happened. No over heating or anything and it OC's to great clocks without a Hitch. I went for BIG cause all other brands were on order and i had to wait for more than a week but in the end BIG came out nice enough... Though you can still go for other brands but just saying BIG is an Indian brand but not a kaput one......

akS !

i got the XFX 7900GT in pune two weeks ago for 18500.. a bit too much i know lol.... btw just as a measure so as not to make it go kaputt (like many 7900GTs have been) ive underclocked it to the actual Nvidia reference (450/660 as oppososed to the xfx factory overclock of 470/685) . the worrysome part being its idling at 53deg (as compared to my OC'ed 6600GT which with the stock heatsink was still idling at 40)...

you guys have any suggestions for any aftermarket heatsinks i can put on the 7900??

The temp of your 7900GT seems normal to me. My 7600GS was idling at 68 degrees, of course it had a passive heatsink. Load temps were close to 90!!! Ouch....

What temps do you get under load?

For pre-oced cards, the best right now is evga, which, unfortunately, is an us company. Otherwise leadtek and then xfx (xxx edition). The last I heard from leadtek distributor in chennai, getting a pre-oced card might not be possible. I am not sure about asus cards though. They seem to be extremely hard to find and hence might carry a premium over the other cards.

Rather, get a plain 7900gt and mod it ;)

XFX over small :P anyday. Also consider gigabyte, the cooler on their 7900GT is awesome!! Its a zalman double bearing.

XFX 7900 GT IS THE WAY TO GO.That too non oced version..its good enough.i bought XFX 7900GT in may 1st week its working fine n i have oced it 565/800 n it works like magic no point in paying the extra premium for factory oced cards..

Thanks for the info.

@Dr.ashish : Is it not dangerous to o/c & btw doesn't it void the warranty if u o/c the GPU.

How is the dealer gonna know that the card of overclocked? I got my 6800GT replaced few months back. I had oced the card a bit as well as removed the metal plate on the heat sink to allow better air flow to the heat sink. Before I sent it to the dealer, I just put the plate back on the heatsink and I got my replacement.
