I want to buy a 8/16GB Memory to expand the storage available to me on my PSP Slim. Will be running movies and games of it. I am aware that there are a lot of fake memory sticks in the market, so what to avoid poor quality stuff.

Would like to know what Memory Stick (Sandisk/Sony Mark II) I should get? I will be buying off eBay.in.

Alternatively there are a lot of dual MicroSDHC to Memory stick pro adapters available on ebay. Is it a better option to get one of those adapters and 2 x 8GB micro SDHC? Has anyone tried these adapters with the PSP. What are the transfer speeds like?

i have a sony and a sandisk card and both work well. the important thing is to make sure you're buying an original product, and i have generally seen more fakes of sony than sandisk. is there any particular reason you want to get it through ebay? because somehow i get the feeling that this should be bought in person so that you know you're getting the real deal. i'm sure the cost savings won't be that much, and there should be no problem of availability in your city either.

Have a look at this. 32GB memory cards in the PSP. Review. - PSP®General - PlayStation.com Forums

Even 32GB is possible on a PSP.

I just bought that Photo Fast adapter from Ebay.uk for 5.5$ and two Sandisk 8GB Micro SDHC cards with 5yr Warranty from Ebay.in , both in one single adapter , with total expense for 2k for both cards and 300 for the adapter , much cheaper than buying a 16GB Pro Duo for almost 4k and you get the same amount of space , 14.92GB after format.

Joy :)

Yeah, I have seen a couple of reviews of the Photofast CR5400 adapter earlier. Just wanted to see if anyone here has personal experience. I have half a mind to go for that combo. I currently have a 8GB MSPD Mark II card its pretty damn fast. So its just the speed issue that I was concerned about.

MSPD's are too damn costly and not usable with anything except Sony. microSDHC on the other hand come in handy with a lot of devices even if the adapter does not work to my liking with the PSP.

Finally got the PhotoFast CR-5400 Dual MicroSD Adapter today , and also bought two Sandisk 8GB MicroSDHC memory sticks , the PSP now has 15GB free space at much cheaper price compared to a 16GB Pro Duo which costs 4k , this bundle costed me 2.3k total , 2k for the cards and 300 for the adapter. :D

Transfer Speed is really good , 6-7mbps. :)

Will there be a problem in modding the PSP using the microSDHC card to run homebrew applications and legally backed up CSO/ISO games. I think magicgate is required along with pandora battery for the psp slim. I am talking about PSP-3000

Yup! I too have a PhotoFast MSPro duo to micro SD adapter! (got it off amazon, also available at Dealextreme)

Bought a 16GB microSD card from NP for ~2K.:D

Will be upgrading to 32gig soon! :D

Regarding transfer speeds -

Earlier I had a 4GB Sandisk MS pro duo (magic gate supported! ;) )
That used to give me write speeds of ~4-5mbps(as read by teracopy)

The adapter with the 16GB microSDHC card gives me write speeds of 7mbps!! :hap2:

(both speeds while copying stuff into the card via PSP)

guys are microsd to m2 converter available?

Nope there is no converter for MicroSD to M2 , both are of same size , how the hell will they make a adapter for either of them.

You have to buy Micro M2 cards , as no adapter is available.

Micro M2 cards can be used from a USB Card Reader or a Micro M2 adapter only or directly on compatible Sony Ericsson mobile phones.
