Graphic Cards 81.84 problems, anyone?

Just got a new 6600GT to replace the 9800Pro. 81.84 drivers didn't work.. couldn't see the desktop! Had to install the 76.44s from the CD for it to work properly. Why?
 
People are having problems with 81.xx series drivers though i am myself on 81.82 but they are stable... Try the 78.01 or the Modified XD 78.something...
 
i have used many non whql drivers and never had any problems with them .... wat type of problem are u facing anish ....
 
the XG drivers are by far the best drivers i have ever used. am presently on XG 77.76 and they are quite good.

p.s: dint face any problems with the 81.xx drivers
 
81.82 and 81.84 have lots of issues with 6600GT.

81.82 are almost useless for 6600GT user. For me both of these gave problems. So i rolled back to 78.03

And dont worry about WHQL. WHQL only means certified by MS. Does not mean they are better or more stable. There have been plenty of almost laughable WHQL releases from Nvidia.

Waiting for good Nvidia WHQL is like waiting for ATI to improve opengl performance.

Dont get me wrong. The 78.01 is good but it has its own problems.

Try couple of other drivers and see what suits you better. At the moment if you are 6600GT user then stay away from these 81.xx releases.

wat do u think by certification ...... certification means they chk it for stability ..... anyways i haven't seen any driver which creats problem for me ....
 
imo 77.77's are the best for 6600gt's, it's the first set with triple buffering and these newer sets don't benefit such a relatively old card anymore.
No real use trying out newer sets unless there are significant improvements stated in the changelog.
 
Yeah I posted the changelog back here sometime ago and it states that the only difference between 77.77 and 78.01 is added support for 6600 SLI, nothing else...
 
^^ Hehe thats waay to back ;)

I guess the release 80's once fully out will be very stable and offer improved performance also...

I am waiting for it ! . downloaded 81.82 driver and I tried benchmarking, Doom3 reduced fps by 3-4 and 3DMark ( '05 ) scores went down by 100 points !! ) :S , rolled back to 77.77 . just downloaded 78.01 ... I am hoping it will be okay
 
78.01 driver is nice .. yes I faced many problems with 81.82 . 6600gt users , please tell if the latest 81.85 is good/better than the 78.xx series or not !
