Everything MAX

Including AF enabled in the game and set to app controlled in Nvidia Panel

8XAA enabled and set to app controlled in Nvidia Panel

it was running smooth ...

I had to reinstall Win Xp since my XP was popping lotsa error (but games worked fine)

After reinstall of XP (this time tried a version of XP called performance edition which is an AHEM ! version minus a lot of XP features disabled...features normally ppl dont use)

Installed the same drivers ...but not game is choppy...

My current system ..is described in my signature below...besides that I want to add that I have the 8600GT XXX edition OCd to 620core 1.6GHzmem 1355shader

increase ur power supply to 500w or 700w atleast..................and then chk it out...............if.............even after that.............it gives a problem...............then it cud b somethin else................

PSU dont come cheap....forget free....i need the right direction now...i dont want to upgrade psu and prob revisits me.

And 700W is way too much for my config ...CM 500W should b enuf imo

:) 700 watt is absolute nonsense decent 500 watts is more then enough...I have a mildly overclocked core 2 duo and am using an 8600gt with CM Igreen 500 watt..in widows XP...Everything runs flawlessly...Do the obvious :
1. Reinstall the latest drivers from nvidia..
2. Check your card if possible in another machine.
3.It can be a problem with the card too...
4. You can try another psu(borrow fom someone if possible...It is better if it is one of the known brands)

better install winxp - SP2 normal then tweak it.
Em using one of my rig i.e. E4400@2.4 FSB:: 1240 MEM:: Transcend 2GB 800 4-4-4 | All the games are running butter smooth with Powersafe 400 along with Galaxy 8600GT OC @ 600/800 along with Seagate 160GB + Hitachi 80GB+ LG DVD-RW+ LG CD-RW+ Creative 7.1.

No issue of power at all.

My Suggestion: USE WINXP Normal with a good CD and make sure that the setup error log located @ C:\WINDOWS\setuperror.log is blank.

man its good that you are trying to help but dont blurt out anything that you feel like, what makes you think that he needs more watts???
Anyways abhishek as shahbaaz mentioned i think you should try the normal version of windows.
OT: Though I have the performance version as well but havent tried it yet, does it give better performance?????????

my mistake.................500w shud b enuff..............

think for 8600GT even 400W is enough.

methinks my psu is giving up....it is about 2+ years old

besides my comp does not boot up sometimes ...i wait randomly.....and turn it ON....and it works......also there have been times ..when the comp just shuts down ...i means turns off when i am working....its random and does not depend on no.of apps running or anything :(

oh, i used to face that issue with my old p-3 machine. I donno what was wrong with my pc: psu, mobo or RAM. Then i upgraded my PC and the old one is useless now. Try getting a friend's PSU and test ur card with it.

8XAA is too much on a 8600GT...

Maybe the first time you force 8xAA on the old OS... the driver actually might have not turned on AA at all... and now after forcing on AA the 8xAA is actually enabled...

Powersafe 400W is more dan enuff.

I m using it with a E6750 @ 3.2GHz n a Zebronics 8600GT @ 650/850 .. no probs at all.

As someone above suggested, try the card in another machine..

8 x AA is causing the choppiness ,turn it off. your psu is perfectly capable of running a 8600gt unless it's faulty of course. I run mine on 1 380w psu with 17a on the 12v.

maybe its a driver conflict.remove the drivers.run driver cleaner.reinstall the latest drivers.hopefully it should work

you must've been running it with 8xaf and not 8xaa :P

I dont think the game will run smoothly on a 8600gt with 8xaa

I think might be because of my PSU
installed Win XP Prof with sp2 normal version
same problemo

i guess my psu is on the verge of dying....2.5 years old....i guess the psu is de-throttling my card
temp are fine
