A Croma Incident

Me and Bombaybaba were out at Chroma in Mulund west yesterday. He was interested in buying a monitor so we were checking out the general PC section which is quite good in Croma here.

In all the PC's we saw each and every one had pirated songs stored on to them. I was like wow, I can understand when people download songs in their homes, but Croma people? I mean, the store should be able to supply the sales people with some CDs and legal Mp3 discs for them to demo to customers.

I asked a guy as to why these PC's have pirated music stored on to them in a nice Music folder? He said, oh this music is legal not pirated. Then I asked, so why do these mp3 have the album art for songs.pk :P

As soon as I turned, he started deleting that folder, but it was not possible to clean up all the pcs at the moment, so there was plenty of time to make him squirm. I told him to get rid of the pirated stuff, lest someone make a post online and alerts NASSCOM. And lo, here, I am making a post on TE.

I found this incident quite funny :)
 
It's not surprising. It is simple cost cutting and ignorance on the part of the sales guy.

But yes, it's quite amusing :)
 
I have seen couple of those tech shows on NDTV / TV-18 / CNBC / CNBC Awaaz and many a times when they review music related products things like DJLUV, songs.pk album art etc can be seen :P

Croma guy in Pune was more than willing to direct me to a local shop to get PS2 games for cheap :P
 
I was checking out the laptop section in Croma. I saw some of them running uTorrent downloading some movies. :) I am sure its the sales people who are doing this.
 
not quite.

I recall some imac showroom abroad caught using axxo rips of the POTC to advertise the displays :P
 
Well it's pretty funny indeed. I tagged along with my friend as he wanted to get a Dell Lappy. We went to check out some LG model which was just around the corner and the salesman promptly whipped out his trusty thumb drive and played a pirated Hindi movie on it to demo the video and sound quality. :P

Sir yeh humara latest laptop, Cam Rip mein bhi ekdum aachi sound quality and picture quality deta hai :P
 
I'm pretty sure it was labeled DVD-Rip. I was amazed these guys were allowed to pull off such things with ease.
 
LOL we had such a laugh when he was like , no the music is not pirated when we could see the songs.pk in id3 info in explorer.

Ya might have got a free lcd 2.....

Btw the chaps working over there might have downloaded some...after all they have wifi access....and each and every stuff cant b checked by securities...their main work is to stop intruder running with goods.....not of US standards right now checking what their staff does

In some malls i have seen beautiful ladies working......and busy with their bf rather than customers...after all where u get paid + ac all the time plus can shop eat and enjoy all under 1 roof..
