hey i'm thinkin of buyin an HD4850 1gb. not sure wich company.

but before i buy, i wanna knnow the frames u get while gaming at 1440X900. cos i'm also buyin a 19" monitor.

i'm into fps and strategy games. so i wanna know real world benchmarks of games like crysis, farcry2, call of juarez, supreme commander, world at war..

in most websites ,thy benchmark video cards at a res of 1650X.... which im not intersted in.

will the 1gb 4850 give 30+ frame rate with very high settings, 2X AA on crysis?? personally i'm not a big fan of crysis, and i think its really over-rated. but this is just to benchamrk the card.

First off, mention the complete specifications of the system involved. This will give everyone a clear idea of what to expect from the components such as CPU, Mobo, Ram, etc. that form the system.

For another 4k, a GTX 260 216 will give you a 30FPS average framerate with 2xAA in Crysis.

my rig is
phenomII X2 550
4GB ddr2 800Mhz
500 Hdd WD
a 785 chipset based mobo
19" dell.
havent decided on the PSU and the CASE

i'm still yet to buy the rig.

It will play most games on very high settings easily, can't say about Crysis @ 2X AA. Not worth even bothering about it, just get it. Get one with a good cooler or u will end up pulling your hair out trying to cool the damn card!

It will play most of the titles at max with good fps...except for crysis. U mite get 30fps avg without AA in crysis but not in crysiswarhead. 1440 x 900 is hardly few less pixels than 1280res so u can assume similar results

ATI 4850 will play most nearly all games at HD res without AA and some without AA. So, at 1440, its very easy on the card.
Crysis is a different story altogether. U'll need to tweak the graphics to play at high shaders at 1680x1050 to get >40fps.

I am able to run all games at highest settings at 1440 on my rig (see sig)
4850 does an awesome job at this resolution

Even the merciless GTA runs super smooth once i tweak view distance by a bit and all other settings at their highest

I would say go for it

I do 26 fps with 4xaa, gamer setting, 1440 X900 on a stone age Athlon x2 4000+ (oc'ed to 5000+ clock), sapphire 4850 512mb. i'd say tht cpu of urs' would easily pull an extra 5fps

i am getting an average of 60 fps in fifa 09 with all high settings. (see my sig for rig details)

your monitor must be running at 60Hz.

fifa is not that demanding game when comes to gfx.

i get similar results on 4670 and 4850 ..both 512 GDDR3

as for 4850 1G ... go for it... do not consider crysis as the prime point of selling... my old machine (a64 2.6GHz) used to play almost games at all high wid AA ..even the latest Prototype.. but it did not go beyond 30fps on crysis (cpu bottleneck) (i game at 1280x1024 :P :ashamed:)

hd4850 1G will be more than sufficient at the required resolution.

(for crysis... you will have to OC ur cpu a little bit ... 3.5GHz maybe)

Most games will run fine at 19x10 maxed out no aa or some aa, some recent games may need you to reduce the rez one notch. Even with all this you should mostly be 50+ FPS.

But Crysis is not going to run maxed out without AA even on a 260 or 4870. There you will need to compromise.

I assume you are on a Quad core tho. + 3+gb gps

Mate!
4850 1GB for a resolution of 1440x900 is simply a overkill & waste of your valuble money, as at your resolution the extra 512 Mb will simply not make any diffrence.Extra memory makes impact only @ Full HD & above resolution's,Any way i would'nt suggest a 4850 for a full hd resultion.

But for your resolution the best choice would be a 4850 512 or even better is a 40nm 4770 512 Card which runs as good as a 4850 while consuming far less power also not forget that it is an excellent over clocker.

Also you can run most of the games on high setting including crysis farcry 2, etc.,

@OP, told you this be4 dude. You will be able to play almost evry game out there with 4770, I would highly recommend this card to you. But if you still want to buy HD 4850 then that could also be a good future proof choice on your 19" (that's if you have the extra money that i never seem to have). I have a 19" and Im doing great even with my HD 4670.

Mate ! How can you advice him on buying a 4850 instead of a 4770 and be future proof  ! As 4770 is as good as 4850 at stock, where as an overclocked 4770 kicks the ass of 4850 !

Telling this by experience, As i have owned both 4850 as well as 4770 !
right now the best bang for buck is 4770 :hap2:.

but an OCed 4770 vs OCed 4770, OCed 4850 wins, if u dont mind power consumption:bleh:

Agreed ! But you need to be very lucky to have to good chip with 4850,
As 4850 is a known poor overclocker, The average OC for a 4850 is mere 700 Mhz or max 725 Mhz, with such results it cannot beat a oced 4770 Which can go up to 880 and with little effort and Vmod 930 Mhz.
