sorry if this aint the place to ask this question... but.....
I have been experiencing the blue-screen error for a couple of times now.. I do not know what is the cause.. It came when :
-I tried to copy files from a virtual drive[power iso] to my a drive in my hdd [came multiple times]
-I was watching a movie on windows media player.. [came 2 times]

I know blue screen errors occur due to hardware failures or outdated drivers or irregular power supply..
My system specs are:
Asus M4A87TD
Sapphire radeon 6870HD
corsair 2x2 + 4x1 ram.. total 8gb
Phenom II x6

I bought my pc on jan 2011.. is there a chance for any of the above mentioned hardwares to fail so quickly and show the blue screen error ?i mean i only bought my pc last year.. the error started appearing 3 days ago.. if it is a hardware prob, how do i know which component is faulty ?
and if its not the hardware problem how do i find out the cause of the blue screen ?

please help!!

Open event viewer and see if there are any hdd bad block error entries. if there are, it must be cause of hdd.
Also it would help if you mention what error codes the blue screen throws up.

you can also use some error dump checker utility like WhoCrashed to find out problem causing devices.
You can run memtest to check memory for errors.

Ok.. thanks for your suggestion.. I used whocrashed.. This is the full report.. i copied it from the utility..

And .. i also used the memory diagnostic tool .. it did not report any error.. kept on saying "No errors have been reported yet " till it finished and reached 100%.. although i didnt read the completed log..

Today, the blue screen got worse.. It came each time I started Windows 7.. i have XP as well.. but no probs there.. For 3 consecutive times, in windows 7 the error came just as it got started.. but after i ran the memory tool, it was fine ..

There might be an issue with the ram. Try to diagnose which one might be a faulty one

Delete your Page file from C drive and let the OS recreate it.
Also update your Windows to the latest updaates from the microsoft update site.

depending on temp of cpu.BSOD(blue screen of death) because overwork to CPU.try to check temp.i face same problem in asus mobo and 1100t .
u can rectify the problem reinstall OS or try to reduce work on cpu.better to check HDD and RAMS

don't overclock CPU. BSOD can frequntly occure

Which PSU are you using. Also Phenom line up are a little mroe picky about memory specially with all 4 DIMMs being used. The main reason for Blue screening could be:

1. Memory - try with 2 sticks of ram and see if it happens. If it continues, try different colored slots.
2. PSU - General PSU failure issues.

Thanks for all your replies.. now...
I installed 4gb ram some 5 months back... had no problems then.. the blue screens started 4 days before adding a new hdd . but after installing it blue screens have worsened... I have 5.25tb hdd.. is that any problem ?

also i usually dont switch off the computer for 2 days... i will put something or other for download.. and leave.. that wont require much cpu utilisation right ?

The memory diagnostic tool result is : " The Windows Memory Diagnostic tested the computer's memory and detected no errors "
the temperature is always very low... hdds have 35-40 and processor has 30-35 (degree Celsius )

My SMPS is corsair Corsair VX 550 and Ups is APC RS 1100 (660 watts)
and reinstalling OS didnt work either.
The error is getting worse now :( .. Just as i put windows 7, it happens.. have no trouble with xp..
