After getting the answer to my thread about Gaming PC Vs. Xbox 360
http://www.techenclave.com/gaming/gaming-pc-or-modded-xbox-360-a-112417.html

I have decided on Geforce 8800GT OC.

Now i have another question that i am pondering about,

What brandname should I go for MSI or EVGA ? Why is there a price difference between them ?

Also my current PSU is 450W Zebronics silver . Do i have to upgrade that too ? I was suggested a Corsair 450W PSU.

Also I have a 2GB 800Mhz ram if i upgrade it to 4 GB will it really make considerable difference ? I might upgrade to VISTA soon.

HA ! question questions Life is so full of them !

1. EVGA asks for more cos its more famous :P Get the MSI. VFM card with good cooler :)

Look at the gigabyte version too. Great cooler AND cheaper price (~11k or lss by now?):)

No issues. An 8800GT is a 8800GT, cooler aside. So look at a dual slot one to keep ur card cool preferably. Though single slots are ok too. I have a single slot EVGA myself.

2. Yes, zebronics silver PSUs arent that good. Corsair 450W if u can afford it (~3.5k). Else you might want to try something like the CM,seventeem or POV black diamond. Please note that none of these will beat the corsair, so thast still preferable if u can beg borrow steal the money ;) It will last and give u peace of mind :)

3. 2Gb should be ok for now. Me on the same. Handles games without issues. You can always upgrade later too.

+ note that if ur on 32bit, u cant use >3.2Gb of RAM :P Stick to 2Gb for nw mate.

1. Upgrade your PSU, i am pretty sure that the Zebronics will not be able to take the load of the 8800GT, the Corsair 450vx is very good- please buy it if it fits in your budget :)

2. RAM upgrade would make a difference, but you Windows wont be able to access all the 4GB (only about 3.2GB) unless you are using the 64 bit version

3. You could check and see which 8800GT has a better cooling solution, otherwise i dont think there will be a very noticeable difference between brands in performance. Buy whichever brand you like :)

Thanks Guys who posted a reply & also to Sheru the original gaming gangsta !!

1-Will go for a Blue PCB MSI 8800GT OC

2-Will change the PSU to corsair 450 W ( PSU is the most neglected & at the same time the genesis of the PC)

3-Will remain happy with the 2GB RAM.

Will be going for the stuff around 15 June.

PS- Also thinking of getting a 500 GB WD external HDD. Gotta sell my undies to raise cash now !!

Sorry for going OT, I use a 500gb WD Home edition, it is really good :hap2:
Go for it!

@ Fangface

I have 1 WD 500 GB & 1 Hammer 320 GB but what do i get bored of burning DVDs ;-)

@ Bluffmaster

thanks dude , will check it out.

But if the price diff is just about 1k to 1.5k then i might opt for the corsair.

Shouldn't this be in the GFX Cards section ????

The MSI OC is a great VFM card , but what is this about a Blue PCB ??? There IS NO BLUE PCB in MSI , only Green and Red , and the RED>Green .

The Corsair VX450 is well worth the money you spend on it , Real powerful , backed up by good service.

Well the difference btw the MSI OCed and eVGA is 1k, the latter being more expensive, MSI is better VFM, but if ur keen on eVGA no harm. Both are excellent cards.
VX450 top decision, never compromise on your PSU.

All the best, let us know how it goes.

both are good, but you should take one with an aftermarket cooler....both msi and gigabyte have these while evga gives the stock cooler which sounds like an airport

Guys got the Evga 8800GT SC & Corsair 450W PSU.

Tried Crysis , Timeshift Rainbow six & TF2 , Good Performance !!!

Thanks for ur suggestions ppl.
