I have recently started used Vista so dont know much abt it. In Vista when i click on the start on left side of screen a big tab pops up like XP with one of the items being PROGRAMS. Now in XP when i hover my mouse over this the whole right side of my screen was getting filled with all the programs that are installed on my machine
But in this Vista they come just above this tab and a scroll bar comes to allow me to browse thru the list of programs.

Now how do i see this list of programs in Vista as i used to in XP

Right-click the start "orb" round button, choose Properties, then select Classic Start Menu and apply... hope that is what you're looking for...

Yeah don't bother to go to the old XP style... Even I was a bit uncomfortable initially ... I didn't like the way Programs came up in Vista.....

But once I started using Search in the Start menu I never missed the XP style Programs menu...

Now I really miss teh Search box in start whenever I use a PC with XP :P

I second the view that the new start menu is better to use, now after vista when I have to go to my old machine running xp I feel so awkward that the list of programs is not searchable. as I have many many soft installed.

First i also had the same impressions; but then I thought I cannot give up my aesthetics for functionality :bleh: so I decided to give it a try and guess what I don't hover that much in the Start menu so I kept is as it is. Anyway which ever windows I open mostly are on top or I know the command line shortcut to them so its mostly a Win+R and the command.
