The only wired router I can think of with more than four ports is the Linksys BEFSR81. It's got 8 LAN ports. Not sure if it's easily available in the market though. Your best bet if you can't find it would be to get a 4 port wired router and connect a switch to it for the additional ports.
Do the above also work as gateways? I want to replace a computer which is being used to share an internet connections with several other computers with the help of two switches in series, each with 8 ports.
The router will allow you to share your internet connection without the need of your computer that you're currently using to share the connection. The switch won't.
Thanks^^. I am using two switches because there are too many computers sharing the same internet connection. I need the router because keeping that computer switched on all the time is a hassle. The fact that it is running on pirated windows XP doesn't help either.
