So summer awaits us Suratis in about a couple of months' time and as always, summers are pathetic here. Very hot during the day and we become extremely tired after the working hours - not to mention Guj is a dry state. So much for the sad state of affairs here! :-(

I decided to get myself a small fridge to keep some cans of beer, bread, butter and those usual stuffs which gets spoiled if kept outside. Do not need a frost-free compartment since I do not wish to keep meat or fish.

I saw some cheap Chinese knockoffs in some showrooms here. But I did see one of a reknown company (forgot the make) at a hotel. Could not see it elsewhere.

Does anyone have such fridges at home/workplace? Any clue of the pricing? I do not mind shelling out so long as it's compact, performs decently and serves my purpose. Please do pitch in your suggestions.

Those tiny bar fridges should suit you fine but for the same price of one of them you could get a regular sized fridge.

Whats your budget ? You should be able to get proper branded ones for ~5-6k

you get the small branded ones for 5-6k as he said above^^

friends in college used to go dutch, and buy 1 for the daaru

Price difference between those tiny bar refrigerators and regular 165lt refrigerator is almost negligible. Both cost around 5-6k.

So, its better to go for regular fridge..and get a freezer too..for ice cubes :)

Mohit

just get a regular branded direct cool fridge,i believe godrej had or has a 90litre fridge, but may not be the most power efficient.

I was contemplating on the normal ones (albeit not frost-free ones) since price's almsot the same but won't the larger ones draw a higher power? I need to pay for the power bills you see! :P

Anyways let's see if I can get hold of the smaller ones. Budget no bar. 6k is fine. Voltas had released few models way back in 2004 named Teenie Weenie (wut? :}). Don't mind all the looks. It just needs to do the job.

Many thanks for the inputs guys. much appreciated! :)

I have one Godrej small fridge, may be 90l :D.

Donot remember the price. purchased almost few yrs back

The 60L models actually consume more electricity than the 185L models! Heres a small comparison from BEE India website.

Model | kWh per Year
Godrej GD 60 | 347
Godrej GD 110 | 325
LG 5 Star 185L Models | 244

Its probably because these smaller models are not updated as frequently as the 185L ones.

I have seen Electrolux mini-fridges too.

Dude, its really not worth it IMO

get a regular fridge at the same cost!

P.S- Plus it isnt exactly that roomie, i suggest to get a hands on on some of them personally then decide

go by power saving stickers stuck on door these days...my 180L samsung uses 304 units an year

smaller refrigerators use less effecient peltier method for refrigeration and larger ones use compression cycle...

and damn those godrejs are fugly!!!

Well IMO smaller once will use more electricity 'cause there cooling system is different(to save space, Similar to AC's for vehicles and for home use), well I got a 190 liter godreg fridge for 7.5k, 165L videocon was available for 7k when last year I was searching. Well I couldn't find a smaller fridge in my locality :P

Ouch! So seems like I should probably go with a smallest single door 160~185l types. Thanks a ton for the inputs people. :)

Home Appliances >> Refrigerator >> Direct Cool Refrigerators >> VCL08Z

i have one made by videocon at my clinic,

It only useful need to keep tiny little things (like i need to keep medicines and injections).

Its better to go for 165 - 180 L variants near most to your budget.
