Based on the fact that our regular processor tests focus on innovations or high end products, we decided to write this article to give you an overall view of AMD and Intel processor performances. We compared 22 processors from the Santa Clara giant and 18 from the father of the Athlon

a very good n 'balanced' review indeed.. i liked the way the author's concluded, taking into account pricing, performance and upgradability factor in to consideration.. tnx for posting bottle :D

nice review ..... but i think processors sud be arranged according to there score rather than there price :)

not everyone buy a CPU for perf.. infact the value segment is what keeps the money flowing into Intel n AMD..

that review is in perfect balance.. even a layman wudnt find it tough to choose the CPU of his choice as per his requirement/constraints after reading that review :D

still u want the best performance for ur money ;) .... that way u can see it better than for wat price wat u can get :)

Each company makes their money mostly in the server market. This is what I heard from my cousin who works in Intel. The desktop market gives a company its' name. But the profits are made in the server market.

that may not be true entirely. Profit margin is high in the server segment, but the sheer volume of the desktops brings in a lot of money too.
Check this IDC report:
http://idcindia.com/Press/19 May 2005.htm
Total Desktops sold in 2005 (in India only) - 33.5 lacs
Total Laptops sold in 2005 (in India only) - 2.2lacs
Total Servers Sold in 2005 (in India only) - 67k

thats just India. Given that the ratio of sale of server/desktop is higher in western countries, but still number of desktops sold by far out number of servers.. U do the math on where's the money to be made.. ;)

thanks for finding this article bottle..... Now i'll break the nose of my friends who think intel is the best in all:D

Yeah....... you too have a point...... So, I guess the desktop market makes more amt of profit than the server market
