A Tale of two isp providers

I am based in Gurgaon phase 1 to be precise. Sometime back I had an airtel connection and being dissapointed with a 256 kbps connection for most of the month I moved to a relaince connection. It took them two weeks to actually provide me with a connection and hardly one week had passed when I lost my connection. (Must be the recent rains, the wires must have come loose). Now it has been 3 days. All that the reliance technicians say is that it will be solved within 24 hrs and everyday it gets extended by another 24 hours. I am so pissed. I guess I will have to go back to airtel. I mean they throttle speeds, they have fups but whether it be in Bangalore, Chennai or for a month in Gurgaon I never had issues with internet not available or pathetic customer care service. I will have to do with a few downloads less a month bvut it is okay I will atleast have my connection.
p.s Not meaning to offend anyone but service has always been a problem with reliance. I was moved by the comments of a few other members but I guess they must be some of the few really lucky ones. Other than FUP airtel really does not see too many complaints even online for their service etc.

My two cents avoid reliance. I will try one more time with reliance but if nothing happens this weekend I am getting back to airtel. Their new plans are slightly better too.

May I suggest Tata Wimax, have never had any downtime since the last 2/3 years or so of using it. No throttling on Torrents yet. They have FUP of 80GB on 1Mbps connection, and 50 or 50GB on 256Kbps. Prices are higher than airtel but otherwise customer service and speed wise its awesome.

I second banik's comment. Even I am using Tata WiMax at Mumbai for the past one year and, touchwood, there has never been an issue with either speeds or download. In fact, I crossed the 85GB limit twice a few months ago for two consecutive months and they did not charge me. They just called me up and told me to go for another plan if I wanted to download more than 85Gb a month. So, overall no issues for me at all. :)

Why don't you escalate this matter with the higher-ups of Reliance? At first speak to the team-lead/shift-lead. If no response from them as well, contact Nodal officer. If still no response, contact Appellate authority. All these employees are given fat pay cheques so that customers' satisfaction is ensured and issues are resolved in a timely manner. Its about time that we as customers make them work for it.

Yup same here, if you cross the limit they do not charge you but only let you know next month. But mind you, if you do not limit your usage they have the right to terminate your connection at any time according to their terms and conditions but havent heard anyone getting their connection terminated.

@bogeyman..How do I contact the Nodal officer. You have any ideas for Delhi-NCR region nodal officer. Yes I do want to put up a complaint.

Do not lose hope so early. As boogey said escalate the problem higher up and get your difficulties addressed.
If you are so much in urgent need for internet get a cheap backup internet from bsnl , mtnl whatever is applicable.

Have you gotten any bill or any documents from them during installation? The NO's details are mentioned in it. But before you do that, first escalate to the Team leader of CC. Tell the executive who picks your call to transfer to the TL. Also ask the TL for the NO's details and threaten the TL of disconnection.

^ +1. I had a problem last week where they crossed their supposed SLA of 24 hours for resolution. I called up their CC and asked for an explanation. They immediately gave me the number of the local nodal officer and asked me to speak to him/her directly. I called up and asked them to expedite the matter and my connection was up and running within 1 hour.

Yeah, they did kinda warn me me on the lines of "keep down your download level or we will terminate your connection!". But fortunately they never did that.
@raj_pol: speaking to the higher up's will definitely help. A friend of mine at Mumbai had issues with his Reliance billing and he spoke to some manager after he got pushed around by the regular customer support guys. He was able to reach some compromise with the bill amount. I am unsure if it was the nodal officer that he spoke to, though.

@All..Just an update..I reached up to the supervisors in reliance and they promised that a rapid response team would be calling me from mumbai. The rapid response team calls me to say they do not have wires in stock (cables) so it might take 5 more days and this is after I am hving no net connection for the past 5 days. I don't know why members here keep on talking nice about reliance. I think if you are school kids and seeing a torrent getting download gives you a kick it is okay. For any other purpose (I use mine from home for official purposes also sometimes) reliance is pathetic and should be avoided like the plague.

I understand you are frustrated with your experience but I felt you could have avoided the above statement. We are not advertising reliance or anything, we are just sharing our experiences, which for me has been quite decent so far. I guess if you want minimum down time and can live with their crappy FUP, it is best to get a connection from airtel. No isp comes close to their level of service (had used airtel for 6 years and it's entirely based on my experience). :)

Peace out.

+1 to what Dhrubo said.

No one is doing free publicity here. We don't get anything if you subscribe to Reliance or not.

Why didn't you threaten disconnection or get Nodal Officers details like I mentioned ages ago in this thread?

you can also check for bsnl 750rs unlimited plan. heard that its giving good speed now. previously i used to get 30kbps download speed. after that i left bsnl and switched to a local cable one here in kolkata. now i get 1mbps connection with unlimited download for 1102rs.

The tale of two isp providers finally ends. I ask them to f*** off and am getting back to some other plans. Most likely airtel though I am looking at the MTNL plans also. No more reliance from me in my life never again.Morons like them should be shot dead.
O.T "Relaince ' Please press 1 for english' and after you do that 'Ha sir main aapka kiya sahayata kar sakta hun' " :D:D:D

Congrats... Was it a happy ending? Did you get your money back? Did you even speak to the NO?

hey raj_pol.... make a complaint on Akosha

they are a team of lawyers specializing in consumer complaints. They'll review your complaint, charge a meager amount and forwards and escalate you complaint to the company's higher officials and if the need arises, they'll even file a consumer court case and it'll be their job to get you justice! They indeed teach a lesson to these lazy asses.

I've been an intern with them, and they really are masters of the game! Take my word on it!

reliance sucks a big time :@

and for consumer to pay for what the will ... :(

+ ALSO charge the monthly bill even if u have ask for a termination of connect , and takes two months for that :O

but if u not pay bill in time they only take 2 days for disconnect :@

they even threateen people for bill's

khoud ko bhai samajte he saale loosers ......

chu**** NAnd.

by the way what's the fee for Akosha ??????

Yes I have called airtel now. Will be going for their 2MBPS 75Gb plan. I swear I will never touch anything relaince ever again. These kind of service providers would have been sued in any other country. Yaha to mera bharat mahan.
