Just two things that I want at TE (if possible)

1- Please increase the time for which TE will keep me logged in even if I have navigated away from the TE pages. I don't know how many minutes it is, but I find that when I am in office, I have to sign in and again because whenever I get away from the site even for 10 to 15 minutes it logs me out. I think half an hour could be the safe bet. If, it's already half an hour, please make it 45 minutes.

2- Please close down Mods'-Own-Special-Corner (I believe such a place exist). Now, I have no proletariat heart and I don't wish to deprive mods of whatever comfort that they get in this special section, but my only concern is that I have seen mods post in other sections of the site very infrequently.

I can't believe that they are not passionate about the technology or have really grown bored of all tech-talk. I think the reason must be that they are spending more time in their own special section. And it robs us n00bs of valuable knowledge. I believe that being the most senior members here on TE, most mods can contribute immensely to the site as well as to the quality of tech-troubleshooting if they can be a little more active in various sections of the forum.

Or may be you can keep the special section open. Just mingle a little more with us n00bs. :P

1. Admins will answer

2. The mod's-special-corner, aka Staff Talk is comprised 99% of the Reported Posts section, apart from the rare occasional forum change/feature thread being discussed there. As such closing it down is absolutely out of the question, but trust us its not that our discussion has been transferred from the forum over there and hence we dont post or something like that.

Quite a few of us either have only enough time to mod the forum, or we leave it to the tons of members with knowledge far exceeding our own (translated - we're noobs too  ). Point noted though, we'll try to get the mods to post more :)

Of course as a mod, most are expected to be neutral - just yesterday we received a report for expressing an opinion (yeah stalker, come out :P ) - so in a way most of the mods do maintain a mostly silent stand.

dude morgoth, ther is nothing sooo special going on in staff talk :P believe me, i was there too

1. are you sure you check the "remember me" option?

I havent actually logged into TE for months, both at work and office PC

@morgoth, perhaps your office PC is set to cleanup your account store/profile/cookies etc when you logout and log back in (to the PC not TE)....the usual BOFH rules n regulations?

Closing down the staff section is out of question, it's not some R&R section where we exchange warez. It's mainly for discussions related to TE rules/regulations, issues, feedback, policies, etc. Closing it down would do the members a lot of disservice as well. Imagine no one attending to reported posts. :O

As for staff participation well, moderating and wading through all those reported posts, pms, rants etc is just too tiring and by the end of the day it takes the joy out of participating on the forums. I am sure all the other mods will agree to this. That said we will still all participate as and when time allows for it.

^^ point taken... I can understand 'all in a day's work' :P

Remember Me is fine. but I don't use this option because, One) I don't like to keep my cookies, and second) I am little paranoid about someone else accessing sites using my account :ashamed:

It's just a tiny feedback... if it can be done and makes sense do it, or things are fine the way they are :)

Modding a site with a decent size like TE can take some amt of time. I was part of the TA team, (I guess most of the TE mod team were there too) and it is possible only if you are not working etc...

Seems we have come a long way most of current the mod team started modding around 5 yrs back (correct me if I am wrong TA was formed in 2004 ? ) all of were in coll in those days, but now most of these guys are working and hopefully have a rampant personal life ;)

It was nice seeing Darkstar being made a mod, the kid is contributing quite a lot on the forums, plus he doesnt have 12+ hr work scheds of most of the mods here :)
