hi guys,

today the chipset fan on my A8N-E stopped working   (verified physicaly)
Now the temps are still all under control ; CPU-40C , Mobo temp-35C
(thx to winters!)

I just wanna know whether i can still use the PC for long durations or i shud get the fan repaired asap?

no way......dunt take the risk......mine nf4 same board chipset blew off due to overheating jus coz the thermal paste dried off.....

nf4 chipset runs pretty hot. dunt even think to run it for sometime....unless u get some backup cooling.

Although logic dictates that you get it replaced asap (especially if you overclock), however given that its cooler nowadays you'll do just fine by maintaining a nicely ventilated cabinet.

Just for reference, my a8n-e's fan conked out last year (sometime around sep. i think) and after having failed with sticking a fan on top i decided to just let it be - it worked just fine and i had no hang-ups etc. even though my PC was overclocked quite a bit. Temperatures were in the 40-45C range (used to be 37-38 with the stock fan and early 30's with the panaflo i earlier tried) so i decided to just let it brave it out.

oh yea where to get the cooler from?? mine stopped working as well but got it work by oiling it lol. need to get it replaced asap.

Get a new fan asap. :)
Or replace with this.
Evercool VC-RE Twinkling VGA Cooler
Newegg.com - EVERCOOL VC-RE Ball All In One Vga Cooler Kit - VGA Cooling
Evercool VC-RE Twinkling VGA Cooler

Evercool VC-RE is a direct fit on most Asus nF4 mobos, DFI nF4 mobos etc.
Do not get the VC-RF that looks similar as improper fit/bad contact may kill the mobo- needs light modding to elongate holes towards centre so that it may freely sit flat on the chip. :)

You can PM KMD with links for the VC-RE from crazyPC, newegg, sidewinders, Jabtech- wherever available- and see what works cheapest.

If KMD can do a GO, might get cheaper as i need a couple or more for myself.

Sheet- you didn't tell me- not safe. :hap5:
Gave puns a passive one with instructions to aim fan at it for temporary use.
Will be replacing it witha spare Evercool i had, as soon as he has time. :)
Will be getting some more soon- some for use, some for standby. :P
