Hello people.... greeting to all.
I am facing a strange problem with my PC. After an uneven shutdown, my CPU fan has stopped working. Stupid me, thought might be problem with the fan immediately got a new fan - just to find that its only the power socket (named CPUFAN1 - 4 pin) isn't behaving as it should be. The fan works if I connect it to the system fan socket (SYSFAN1 - 3 pin), but its beeps repeatedly (same beep when overheats).
So, after connecting the fan to the system fan socket I have changed the setting in BIOS (abit-EQ) to monitor the SYSFAN. Now beep stopped.
Core temp is showing HIGH : 60°C / 62°C (for core 1/2) (with chrome 5/6 tabs open, Crysis 2 on minimum gfx setting for 5 mins)
In bios, I saw something like 2000rpm for the fan.
Now my concerns are,
btw, my hardwares are Abit IP35E, Intel E8200, CM 600W and things kinda old - almost 3 years.
Any help regarding my concerns would be much appreciated. TIA

Now my concerns are,
- is this thing is safe to use (CPU fan in SYS fan socket)? I mean would it cause any permanent damage to the hw.
- Or should I opt for some adapter from the PSU for the fan?
- Is the temperature I'm seeing with Core Temp is fine?
- Will I get any warning (like beep or anything) if the CPU overheats ?
