What I am trying to get at is, like many other I frequent various other tech forums, I have not seen the 30 second refresh rule, in any of em, a lot of the times when I refresh it says search has been disabled due to heavy traffic on the server, frequent downtime off late, which i understand was not under your control.

When those sites/forums can maintain or have good enough hardware/software why not bring TE also to that standard, I am not criticizing or anything just trying to put across my point, and understand why a community large as this one cant have access to the latest technology.

Pls do respond. Thanks.

Actually you should be glad they do the 30 sec rule, I often hang out at the xda developers forum and it gets so overloaded that the pages won't even load properly. Better to have a 30 sec rule than wait 30 secs for all pages to load ;)

Good to see TE back without any serious damage.

I will suggest site admin to add R1 soft backup restore to the server. This is excellent backup solution which can create backup every minute and unlimited number of backup points. Will cost around 160$ per server (owned license)

Hi ,
Most of The Hosting Servers Have This In Cpanel .:)

What Happened?
Hackers based in Russia exploited a code vulnerability in our OS to inject some malicious scripts on our server. This was found out before any long term damage could have been done.

What we did?
Since there were constant attacks on our server, we had to upgrade both our OS and install new DoS protection measures to protect the site. The latter will help us tackle such issues better in future.

Are we fully secure?
We have plugged all known vulnerabilities for now.

Any long term plans?
Yes. Very soon we will be doing a migration of some parts of TE to a backup server. This will not cause any downtime though.

And the rest?
  • Are you guys looking to sell TE? NO! Renegade was checking something in the market and he had created a "TE for Sale" thread as a joke. For the record TE is not for sale and will never be in future. We will ofcourse avoid any jokes on that topic in future now that we know how seriously, atleast some of you take it.
  • Was this downtime deliberate? (to promote F1Fever) No! F1Fever is online for 6 months and if we were even going to think of pulling such a stunt, you would think it would be at the start of a season and not midway. Anyway short and long answer is both No. We know how to promote our sites.
  • You guys have lost reliability! Well that is a valid concern if you go by the last 30 days track record of ours. Unfortunately some things are beyond our control. Having said that we are going to take strong measures immediately to improve our reliability. We know you expect the best from TE and we have to live upto your expectations.
Hi Safin ,
Yes They Will Never Stop This ,Its Better To Have a OS That Does automatic Scheduling And Keeps Plugging loopholes ,Most Of the OSES Have This Feature for Few Years .Well TE On Backup Servers that Take Over If The Primary Once Fail Will Be Very Very Good ,I Will Appreciate If You Could Tell Us How Thats Done .WE Will Benefit From It Also .Good Job I Was Anticipating you will Get it Up By Monday But You Like Always Pawed My thought :) ,Excellent And Kudos To Our Team ,If There Is Anything In Our Capacity That Could Be Done I Would Be The First One To Come forward And Extend My Hand .Well If You Could Tell Us Some IP Or From Where The Attack Was Comming I Would Be first To REvert Back To Them In Thier Own Language "ATTACK " ,And I Can Gurranty That It will Be With a Punjabi Touch .:P ,Will Revive My College Memories :bleh: .

Welcome back TE! Was going crazy without being able to visit TE :( , kept obsessively checking the site every 30mins from office :P

relief its back!...

1) i was sad each time i wanted to check TE from work :(

2) i was sad each time i wanted to check TE from home :(

3) i was sad each time i realised i cannot hit the "New Posts" button

4) i was sad each time the authentication box would come up on the screen

5) its OK to have nothing to do on TE and just know its THERE; its NOT OK to have nothing to do and see TE page can't load !!!

Welcome Back :)

Good to see that TE is back.. I was wondering why that "primitive" login box coming when i visit the site:bleh:

I appreciate the boldness to admit the downtime. It happens with all Servers at some point of time...

I thought it was sold :@ and the owner has different plans.

Good to know that you have no plans of selling TE. Welcome back. :hap2:
