Hello network gurus

Have portforwarded 3389 with two routers. Successfully double port forwarded with asus dsl n10e and tplink 1043nd. Now i am able to see that this port is open with portcheck tool.

Even registered with no-ip.com and obtained a host. Now i have given the username, password and host into the tplink 1043nd router and it connects successfully. Also used the noip update client downloaded from their website. Is this client actually useful ?. Wont the TPLINK 1043nd which is configured with the ddns username and password take care of this task and update the NO-ip servers if the IP changes ?

Now i started remote desktop in windows xp and gave the host id but i was not able to connect. Is there anyway to do this or i am missing something. Also is the dynamic dns mandatory here. Isnt it possible to connect it with the dyanamic IP provided by the ISP ?. i even tried this but cannot connect..

The server PC which is portforwarded is win 8.1 and client PC has windows xp. Have checked each and every possible config but i am not able to connect even with the dyanamic IP provided by ISP.
I even checked KIS and allowed port 3389 . Very frustrated.

I am new to remote networking. So kindly help guys.

And i have used teamviewer but their trial versions have some limitations which i dont remember. Anyway i wont to learn how to connect with the method which i am now attempting...

thanx in advance.

If you are checking from your network, try from another computer NOT from your network (192.168.X.X IP). If it works, then its a hairpin NAT issue. Else, your router is not doing the DDNS correctly.

Thanx for your reply guys. Finally was able to figure it out. But the connection is slow as the client end has speed of 256 Kbps only... Dont know the reason why it failed to connect the other time..
