Pantech burst lock screen has these notifications. Missed calls, messages, etc. Does not have the blacklist and other things mentioned in this apps features though.

I've been using a Nokia 1650 and a Motorola ZN5 till 2 weeks ago. Now I switched to an Android phone, but miss something that was available in the Nokia and Nokia 6230 (I was using that long ago) - the 1650 always shows the time - the display never completely switches off. So if I keep it on the table, I don't need to click anywhere to check the time, it's always displayed.
The 6230 used to show icons for missed calls and sms messages in addition to the time.

With this app, it shows notifications and time when I click a button, and then it turns off after a while. Is there any app or change in setting (or combination of both) that will make the phone show the time (and preferably notifications) all the time?

I have been using this for a month now. I have not noticed affect on the battery life on the N5 which has an IPS screen.

Been using on Moto G. There is enough settings so that battery life is not used much.
Has blacklist also now. great app.

You're probably right, still it's hard to imagine that a feature that was on my phone 10 years ago is not available anymore.
