Acer 5740G vs. Dell inspiron 15R

Hello guys!!

i'm totally confused over these 2 laptops. pls suggest which one to buy:

1) Acer 5740G (Price: Rs. 43500)
15.6", Intel i5, 4gb ram, 1gb graphics card, 500gb HDD (including backpack)

2) Dell inspiron (Price:Rs. 44500)
15.6", Intel i5, 4gb ram, 1gb graphics card, 320gb HDD (includes 1 Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis) (excluding backpack)

Mention the purpose of the laptop. Are u looking for a gaming system. 1GB VRAM doesnt mean the Graphics card is the ultimate one. The mid range mGPU's have a 64-bit/128-bit bus and having 1GB VRAM onboard will not result in any performance difference.

Dell Inpisron 15R:

Pros:

Relatively better build quality

Better After sales service.

Cons:

Relatively Inferior GPU.(It has a HD5470 which is < HD5650 of the Acer)

Lesser HDD space.

So decide accordingly.
 
acer, ftw!

apart from dell's afrer sales reputation, it doesnt have much going on here.

if you stay in an urban city, you should go with acer with your eyes closed. I believe the video card in acer is 5470

Which city are you from ?

I've seen Acer's A.S.S vary from city to city.

For instance, its decent in Bangalore. I got a monitor serviced on the last day of its 3 year warranty period.

Anyway, I too had the same doubt but in the end decided to go for a laptop half that budget :D
 
There are two versions of 5740G
One with HD5470 for 37-38k and one with HD5650 for 43-44k. So from the price u are getting it for its HD5650 i guess. Do confirm the specs before buying.
