That's an i5 with 8gb ram, the one I am selling is i7 with 16gb ram. So, I think the only successor part here is the GPU.

Can you post the exact specifications? Gaming laptops have different specs under the same model.
Also your friend should get the laptop RMA'd to fix the USB asap or at least contact Acer regarding the same and letting them know first. With covid situation the warranty might just expire.

Here's the link to the product. And the USB port was physically damaged hence I guess can't be RMA'd

Bottleneck?? That's a 4/8 chip. The GPU might be too OP for the CPU.
