Hi All!

So I finally decided to evaluate my existing relationship with Airtel. Jumped onto Act's fiber optic cable broadband offering. 5mbps with a 35GB FUP for 999. Now before anyone gets excited, and I apologize if someone already posted it here. This is right now I would say is at a orangish recommendation level. Preliminary testing shows atleast a 20-30% packet loss at certain intervals (spikes of dead zone). It is not a "True" FFTH option, they have a fiber optic backbone, and all connections to your house are via Ethernet cable. They will only provide installation post checking if your house is close enough to the fiber optic access point. Mine is next door about 15m away. My primary use is online gaming but with spikes of those dead packets, game play will be affected. As far as downloads are concerned the 35GB limit is a downer.

Will post back if this experience improves =)

My current Airtel plan is 1399 with 2MBPS and a 100GB FUP.

Related information can be found at Act's website :- Acttv.in

Updates:-
1) Installation wasnt the smoothest experience. But that was due to the "Fiber optic access point" having no power. They pulled a power wire from my house and this fixed the issue. Plus, because their equipment is now a part of my grid, I get a rebate of Rs50 on my monthly bill. Total time from application to Installation and activation was done in 5 days.

2) Packet loss issue :-

Here is how its looking right now (post complaint):-

Will upload pingplotter once I run the same test during a peak time.

So far its looking pretty good.

The good point about this isp is that they lower the speeds to 512kbps unlike others who throttle it to 256kbps, sadly they are not available in my area :(
