Interesting.. BUT.. Another zip file.. Maybe the mods should lay down the rules about uploading zip files.. or have someone verifying them first.

Thanks ;). You dont need an onboard IR.. just a com port.

Man... after completing the whole circuit , i found that my motherboard has no serial port ... any other way to work it out guys ???
 
Hmm...interesting thing to do... any ways i got my P III out (ol'd cpu) for the serial port .. but my current remotes bpl (tv) and nikai (dvd player) dont seem to be working with these .. dont know if its a circuit fault or incompatible remotes. ... @ mod-the-pc , could be you please mention the exact model no. of akai remote which worked (like RC-xxx)

Also if you have more good tutorials as such please post them too
 
@cyrux its a RC-c283 (I think its the remote for a CD player with 3 CD changer)

mod-the-pc will be on to a no-pc-land for some days. So please bear with me if I'm not able to reply to ur queries in time.
 
I made the circuit and connected it to my PC,but it is not working.Iam sure that the circuit is made correctly.

even during raw codes,i dnt get any message.
