I am going to buy the Nokia X3 from the mobile store (Price is 6689) in a day or two. They have this thing where we can get additional warranty by paying certain amount. In this case it is something 209 for 1 year of additional warranty. Is it worth taking the same ?

Is Mobile Store providing the additional warranty? I took one for my 5800XM from the Nokia Priority dealer, not because I doubt Nokia's build quality - touchwood, they have never failed on me in the last 7 years - but because I wanted to make the phone look attractive for sale if I ever wanted to.

^^They said that the additional warranty has same terms as conditions as the first year warranty so i am guessing that even after first year if something goes wrong with the mobile, then nokia care should service it.

In these extended warranty cases.they will only pay the service cost.u still have to pay for the spares
some cover warranty with parts also, so please check before taking the "additional" warranty. Also the additional warranty will be provided by the Mobilestore chain, not Nokia care (AFAIK)

I guess even Nokia themselves dont provide warranty on parts for 1st year. Or they do ??

Oh..that is a chance, will talk to them on this.

Nokia does provide warranty on parts for 1st year. I dont think nokia provides any additional warranty. The warranty is provided from mobile store itself.

If you avail this extended warranty and anything goes wrong you have to go to mobile store not Nokia care. Do check the T&C.

But in case of mobiles the models and their parts change so quickly that even if they provide warranty I doubt you get the necessary spare parts in case of any damage.

these additional warranties take 1-2months to get processed.

try with croma, they have better extended warranty term; i think you can get 2yrs extended warranty for same amount at croma.

people may go on saying that pricing is high at croma but you just have to tell them that market pricing at your desired store is xyz and they sell it to the same price.

be realistic as they check local pricing. have purchased a lot of stuff this way at croma.. the only situation this does not apply is when the item is under offer; In that case it is either the offer or the haggle.

none the less, the extended warranty is available at counter and you can avail it irrespective of the offer/haggle.

Then what is the meaning of warranty dude ?. Except in cases the damage is of a customer induced one, they have to provide warranty even for the spares. If that is not, then it is only a service warranty and not a regular warranty...

Nokia does provide extended warranty at very reasonable rates, you can extend your standard one year warranty to two years by purchasing "nokia care protect" at nokia care centres. I will advise you to stay away from mobile store, croma etc warranty and get it from nokia itself.

Nokia India - Nokia Care Protect

yaar those companies don't even care about customers when you are under 1 year warranty do you think they care about for extended warranty period.

Not going for X3 now as read really bad reviews on gsmarena etc. As i told in another thread, the phone wont be finalized until i buy it.

Thanks a lot for the website link. This really helps in comparing the prices.

What about blackberry?

I'm getting a 2 year extension on warranty over the standard 18 months for 990...

This is from 'The Mobile Store'.
