I have an Enter bluetooth dongle that says on the can that the range is about 100meters. Say that I am going to buy a new pc for my parents down the hallway and in another room. And that I equip that one with the same bluetooth dongle. Will I be able to internetwork both the PCs? If I can, then will I get full bluetooth speed or will it diminish with intermediate obstacles?

It would most probably depend on the transceivers at both the ends. Make sure tht both of the dongles have the following characteristics. They are in the class 1, 100 mW or 20dBM (Maximum power) , both follow the bluetooth 2.0 specs.

One of the other things tht u could also consider is having a Wi-Fi adhoc network. This wouldn't need an access point, just 2 Wi-Fi cards. The advantages would be stronger signals, better security & higher bandwidth than bluetooth. The only drawback is the slightly higher usage of Wi-Fi devices as compared to bluetooth.
