I am starting this thread for all of you to share some cool tips on Adobe Photoshop.
While browsing through tutorials or designing your image you might have come across tips which you think deserves to be shared. Please share all those tips in this thread to make it a good reference place.

Also the jist of discussions regarding the tips posted in the thread will be concatenated to that tip after the discussion is over. This is to ensure that a tip occupies only one post count and a user does not have to scroll through the whole thread to find the next tip.

Also bear in mind that a tip not considered worthy enough might be deleted. This stands only for really lame tips.

Appended at the end of this post is the list of tutorials that are available on our website contributed by our members. This list would be updated as per the content. In case you post a new tutorial on our site please PM a mod to update this list with your tutorial thread.
NOTE: Please do not post replies like 'cool', 'wow' and 'awesome'. It will be deleted and you might be warned.

Ok starting off on a tip…..

When in photoshop you want to save a file and want to preserve its transparency without going to imageready. All you have to do is select the area you want to remain transparent and click on /Help/ExportTransparentImage and check the option ‘I have selected the area to be transparent. Now simply follow the confirmation steps and save your image.

Alternatively if your image is on a transparent background (if your image is not covering whole of the canvas you can make the background transparent by clicking on the eye in the layers palette which removes the background layer) just select the option ‘my image is on transparent background and follow the steps.

Now in the first method if you are having problems in selecting the area to be made transparent then select the area that you want be retained and then right click on the selection and click on invert selection to select the unwanted area.
