Hello,

Is there any recommended ADSL modem to use with BSNL? I will use it with a separate Netgear WNDR3600v2 router running openwrt.

The one sold by TP-link TD-8816 is a TrendChip TC3126 which i am not sure is a good choice with BSNL. Anybody has experience with it? Is there any current modem with a Broadcom chip?

Thanks

Last I heard, only the Dlink 2520U used Broadcom. However in the 2750U, they changed the chipset from Broadcom to Realtek, so not sure if they haven't done something similar in the 2520U.

Following up on my previous post.
Dlink India were strangely quiet. Anyway, a bit of digging around reveals the current 2520U is H/W Rev Z1. http://helpdesk.dlink.co.in/adsl/DSL-2520U/DSL-2520U-Hw-Z1/ . Snooping through the firmware reveals that it's a Ralink chipset.

As of now the cheapest ADSL device with a Broadcom chip appears to be the Netgear DGN2200. Unfortunately it's not just a modem alone, but has wifi as well.

^ Yes. Broadcom chipsets will be able to hold a more stable link, if you have flaky line conditions or you're far from the DSLAM exchange. If your line is ok, then the regular ralink/trendchip stuff should do fine.
