ADSL USB/Ethernet Modem - Connect Both Ports Simultaneously?

Got my Airtel 256K unlimited connection yesterday :hap2:

They gave a Beetel 220BX ADSL 2+ Modem along with the connection. The modem has 2 ports - a USB port and an Ethernet port. The Airtel rep told me that it would be possible to get 2 comps connected simultaneously.

My query is, how do I get both the comps connected ?

Connected one port to the USB port on one PC, and another on the Ethernet port on the other PC - everything hooks up fine. Both comps see modem, and see each other as well (I was of the impression this is something of a mini-router/modem combo).

However I can either activate the connection from one PC, or connect from the other PC at a time - not simultaneously. If the connection is connected and active from one PC, I cannot place the connection on the other PC. So how exactly do I go about with sharing it

FOr sharing it, you need a router :bleh:

You can connect two comps but not use the net simultaneously......

If there is a way to do so, please post back here dude....

Cheapest solution will be to buy a crossover cable and share the PC's and connect one to the net and second to share the connection from the first PC...

The second way is ofcourse a router...

A pronet ADSL modem+router was 3250 3 months ago...i was plannin on it for dataone..lol

it can be used to connect 4 comps from one connection.

Else, get a Dlink 502T (ADSLmodem+router) plus a switch....
