People really need to start boycotting polls till a viable alternative from within the masses comes out , if you ask me, these polls and regime changes are practically meaningless since both sides follow essentially same policies and what actually changes is only the people who benefit most from those in power.

This acts as merely a source of consolation for people that they have the power to bring about change, and that prevents the masses from being pro-active since they don't realize the need for it....... no matter how much they talk about change, i see few true changes.....holds true for even Obama who has essentially done nothing concrete towards any real change except delivering great speeches .

Boycotting polls will not solve the problems our country is facing but make them worse. What is required is for educated, well informed people to participate in the democratic process. Our country is a democracy, and in a democracy, the government represents the people who vote and not the people who are the citizens of that country but don't vote. We just have to pick the best person. When there is a change in the kind of people who vote, there will be a change in the kind of candidates which are fielded by the political parties.
