Guys,

I need to buy a 1 or 1.2 ton split AC for my parents' room.
I would prefer the build to be >=Panasonic, VFM and at least a good A.S.S.

I am not sure about the current prices or if I should go for an inverter or not.

Do you guys have any suggestions post which I could get more specific on queries?

Split 1T would definitely do for 10X10 room. You need to go for inverter AC only if you are running say most part of the year and lots of hours.
Panasonic is good and you can also consider Sharp if you are going for inverter. I have both Panasonic and Sharp products and both have great A/s/s so not an issue. In non inverters Voltas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industry are great.
Any specific reason for split? If you have space for window AC then even that would go and OGeneral is a good brand in window.
If you provide appx running hours per day and number of months per year then I could suggest if its best to go for inverter or non inverter. Also let me know which city as it helps understand trends better.

Here are a few more details,

Room is 10x10ft with 2 medium sized windows on the only exterior wall which gets direct sunlight for a few hours in the morning. Open terrance on roof.

Usage is around 12 hours a day for 6-8 months, thus would prefer a 5 star unit and immediate VFM rather than wait for gains to level out over a period of years.

Build quality, as mentioned before, should be at least equivalent to Panasonic.

Would want good A.S.S. in South Delhi as well as Sector 92 in Noida (In case I shift).

I prefer splits because they are quieter and I find them more effective over window units.

I personally own Hitachi and Panasonic splits. Not fond of Hitachi at all. Haven't needed much service of the Panasonic one as its their most basic split.

Ok as usage is high I would think that long term inverter ac is best. if you take a 1T sharp or panasonic ac that would be more efficient than a regular 1T ac. Like I earlier said Sharp and Panasonic both have great service but in inverter acs I have found that most people recommend Sharp and that is what I have. Yes Split might be a bit quieter but traditionally window ACs are claimed to be much more efficient than a Split AC. And between a 5star Regular AC and an inverter AC there should not be a huge price difference. I guess it should be around 10% - 15% more but given your running the inverter AC would consume much less power than the regular 5* AC

What is the cost I am looking at?
Or even better, is there a website where I can check the latest prices?

Hi mate,
If you have decided for 1ton split, then stick with panasonic..The reason being sharp has poor after sale service in delhi as reported y few members..

I have got a sharp 1ton inverter for 32k..Panasonic has similar inverter model known as inverter crytsal for 32k..
It doesnt have those fancy features like econavi, blue fin condenser but will do its basic job in cooling..

Check out next vijay sales website,snapdeal.com etc to name a few sites..The prices mentioned are little more than what you get them for if you bargain..:)

Both of you, thanks for the guidance.
Due to sudden decision by the family, the requirement has changed, or rather increased.
Will create another thread in the near feature once I have exact details about the rooms
