need to take out few b&w text only printouts only once in a while. been through 2 inkjet printers (HP & Epson) but they break down quickly due to non-use or ink dries up.
am told laser printers toners dont dry up quickly so looking at that option. since its for very limited use would like to keep budget to minimum. also need scanner so a multifunction printer would be good.
this ricoh printer for 5k seems to tick boxes

but reading other threads on TE something is mentioned about toner chip (what is that?), needing to replace some parts during refill, etc.
could someone pls tell me what will be the maintenance costs, costs for refills, etc & also how is ricoh brand?
