PC Peripherals Advice Needed for New Rig Purchase - Chennai

Hi All

The day has finally arrived. After some 6 years I am going to buy a new rig this march . I need all your input guys. Please bear with all my questions and please suggest some place to buy these components (at chennai or by shipping)

I am having a P4 system parts (its lying here and there) with 17" working monitor and keyboards.

MY total Budget is 50k max. +/- 5 (Depends on money availability :( )

My requirements are gaming, movies, downloading only at night and some 3d stuff .

Requirements
1) I need a 22" monitor and min 500 GB of HD space and 4gb of ram.
2) The system should be upgradeable with minimum effort (after 2years) and should provide good performance for at least 2 years.
3) It should provide good gaming** performance in a 22" monitor (Resolution depends on monitor).
4) I don't need costly cabinets and coolers but if it is necessary then I don’t mind.
5) I am ready to sacrifice some performance for money.
6) I don't overclock but might do some in future.
7) I need HD4870 min. (Used gtx 260 is also fine)
8) Do I need UPS?? I am in chennai and I don’t do much of programming work other than some 3d stuff.
9) I need to use my old 80GB IDE HD and DVD writer.
10) Keyboard and mouse (ps/2) I will use from my old system. So I don’t need it.
11) I need absolute VALUE FOR MONEY ;)

Questions
1) How C2D ,i7 and phenom II match in gaming ( As far as I know there is only some 5 to 10 fps difference as gaming depends on GPU and not CPU)
2) Do I have to go for intel rig instead of this?
3) Do I have to get an i7 rig by sacrificing the monitor. Can I get i7 with this budget?
4) Can 1680 x 1050 LCD play HD video?
5) Is HDMI input necessary to watch high quality video or gaming, Because E2200HD has hdmi input and Dell s2209 doesn't have it.
6) I will be watching HD videos so is Full HD monitor a necessary?
7) And of course any other valuable suggestions please.

Here are some of my suggestions and concerns.
AMD Phenom II x4 940 - 13k :eek:hyeah:
Biostar AMD 790GX - 4.5K
Transcend Ram 4GB - 2.5K
Seagate 1TB - 5.5k (Do I have to live with bugs?)
MSI HD4870 - 13k :eek:hyeah:
cabinet -1-2k
Monitor 22" - 12k
Corsair Vx 450w SMPS - 3.75k

Total 55k

Guys this is my hard earned money and I am dreaming this for more than 1 year. I may not be able to buy rig after this for at least 4 years. So please suggest components with good value for money :cool2: .

** Good Performance means playing with high quality with no AA or Medium quality with some AA (Crysis excluded)

People at chennai, if any one is familiar in computer assembly and if they are free some week end this march means PM me. I need your help.

Do suggest some good shop to buy in chennai. :hap2:

Questions

1) How C2D ,i7 and phenom II match in gaming ( As far as I know there is only some 5 to 10 fps difference as gaming depends on GPU and not CPU)

Here are some benchies

farcry2.gif

2) Do I have to go for intel rig instead of this?

Intel Rig choice mate remember Intel needs you to change your mobo and processor and everything...whereas now you can get a AM3 mobo with AM3 processor ...

3) Do I have to get an i7 rig by sacrificing the monitor. Can I get i7 with this budget?

Nah not really worth getting an i7 rig at this moment unless you really want it

4) Can 1680 x 1050 LCD play HD video?

Yeah should play but if its 16:10 you might get some black bars but yeah it will work...

5) Is HDMI input necessary to watch high quality video or gaming, Because E2200HD has hdmi input and Dell s2209 doesn't have it.

6) I will be watching HD videos so is Full HD monitor a necessary?

If you are willing to spend more yeah get it ....

7) And of course any other valuable suggestions please.

Here are some of my suggestions and concerns.

AMD Phenom II x4 940 - 13k

Biostar AMD 790GX - 4.5K

Transcend Ram 4GB - 2.5K

Seagate 1TB - 5.5k (Do I have to live with bugs?)

MSI HD4870 - 13k

cabinet -1-2k

Monitor 22" - 12k

Corsair Vx 450w SMPS - 3.75k

Total 55k

Try this configuration

AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE or yeah you can go for Phenom II X4 940 should be sufficient - 13k

Biostar 790GX 128mb A2+ - 5k the others don't have crossfire compatibility..

Transcend 4GB - 2.2k mate

Seagate 7200.12 500GB or more as per choice 3.2k

Cabby CM690 - 4k

Tagan TG600-U37 (Max Power Upto 700W) - 4150 should be good enough

Viewsonic Monitor 22'' - 11k

MSI HD4870 - 13k

51k :) hope this helps you out

DDR3 not really worth it at this moment not much of performance gains....

Now games doesn't use quad core much but in futures many games will be written for quad core only. And my fav GTA 4 loves Quad core

Well need not be...
You cant predict how games are going to be 2 years from now
Games mostly depend on clock speed more than the cores. higher the clock, better they run

and btw, GTA runs great on my config @ 1680

I would not have suggested Quad, but since u wanted and ur budget was 50+, i suggested quad

I have used only AMD proccies before this E8400...
See whats better for the dough u spend..
