I'm Planning for an upgrade in 2-3 Month's time.

Want to Upgrade to i3(or i5 if Prices will come down) Processor and Motherboard,RAM(4GB).Let Me know VFM Configurations(Motherboard,Processor).I've a XFX 7300GT with Me Currently used.

Not used as a Gaming PC etc.But ,Some Processor Intensive Works are done.

I have very less experience with AMD Systems(Overheating??).Still ,If I can get a better System for the Price Compared to Intel ,Will be Open For that As well(Processor,Motherboard).

Budget..Let Me Get Some Idea about the Configurations.

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

1. CPU - AthlonII X4 635 (4cores, 2.9GHz, 2MB Cache)~ 5K
2. Motherboard - MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ 5.7K (USB 3.0, SATA 6Gbps)
3.RAM - CORSAIR 2*2GB DDR3 1333MHz VS2GB1333D3 G ~ 5k
Total: 15.7k

Prices taken from TheITWares -TheITwares Ecommerce. So shipping ~Rs.200-300

Nvidia will release the GTS450 by end of August. So as u are not buying immediately its a good option. U can consider their future cards like GT 440 which should be here in 2-3 months time. Dont forget to upgrade ur PSU too then.

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

Thanks @DarkAngel.What about a Intel i-series Configuration Considering 15K Budget is Flexbile.

Also ,With AMD Processor ,Will I have to get a Dedicated CPU Cooler?(Hyper 212+) ?

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

You get a CPU cooler with the AMD processor.

If Intel then consider the following,

Core i-3 530 ~ 5.5k

Gigabyte H-55M-UD2H ~ 5.8k

RAM - CORSAIR 2*2GB DDR3 1333MHz VS2GB1333D3 G ~ 5k

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

Reg AMD ,I saw some Videos of How Some of their Processors gets Overheated with stock cooler.that's Why asked for a Seperate CPU Cooler.

Primary Concern is to get a better Processor(Intel or Amd)..more cores.AMD Options are Confusing.I'd Want to Know the Difference between Athlon II Cores and Phenom II.

What about AMD Phenom II Option?

Athlon II X4 Quad X4 - 635 2.9GHz, 2M, AM3 5125

Phenom II Quad X4 - 945 3.0GHz, 8M, AM3 6950

i5 - 650 3.2 GHz, 4MB Cache 8900

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

PhenomII has L3 level Cache which is helpful for games and certain apps.

You can compare proccies based on apps u are gonna run using this Bench - CPU - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News

I am not aware of any over heating issues in the AthlonII and PhenomII. None of the review sites reported overheating of AMD K10.5 processors. U dont need a 3rd party cooler unless u need to OC the processor.

Getting a i-5 6xx series is pointless as it is a dual core and not VFM at all.

If u have the budget then go for the i-5 750/i-5 760 ~ 10-10.5k, Gigabyte H-55/P-55 mobo ~ 5.8-6k and 4GB Corsair XMS3 kit if u have the budget for it.

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

As Regarding AMD's Overheating ,I see some Results Like this.Anything to Worry?:

Phenom II X4 945 temperatures - CPUs - CPU-Components

If for AMD Phenom II X4 945 ,Which Motherboard?(3 or 4 RAM Slots Expected) DDR-3 ?Will There be any Price Revisions in 2-3 Months time for X4 Phenom II?

Sorry for Newbeish Question,Since I am Completely Out of Touch with H/W Upgrades for almost 2 Years Now. :P

Saw the Comparision of Phenome II X4 945? vs i3 540 :

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

Heating is a non-issue as far as AthlonII and PhenonII. There are many who have them in the forums and i have not seen any threads reporting abnormal temps or significantly higher than normal temps.

Motherboard - MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ 5.7K (USB 3.0, SATA 6Gbps) has 4 RAM slots. So u can add 4GB(2*2) kit for now and they can support upto 4*4GB of RAM.

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

Between i3 & AthlonII X4, the Athlon is a better buy for cpu intensive tasks, for the simple reason that it has more cores. So you it will aid in multitasking.
If you can increase your budget then it doesnt make sense to buy a i5 750 for 10k when you can get a PII X6 1055T at the same price. Here again the 6 cores will aid you better. Also the X6 can oc to 3.6GHz on the stock cooler too (case should have good airflow). You can always buy a used cooler online later on.

X6 Seems to be a bit out of the Budget. But ,I am just on the Planning Phase of the Upgrade.Lot of Time to Reach a Decision. Also Share Other Good AMD Options with Mobo and If I can Expect a Price Revision in the Coming Months.

Thanks For Clearing it.So Stock CPU Cooler will Do the Job For OC as well ?

I Want to Keep the New Upgrade for Atleast 2 Years.Confused of Whether to go for Intel or AMD.But ,from the Prices ,it is AMD.

Can I expect Price Drop For AMD X6 This Year? Also ,Which Motherboard For PII X6 1055T?(On Board Graphics is Not Necessary.I've a 7300GT with Me-For Now) Sata 6gb/Sec will be great as I'm Toying an Idea for SSD's Next Year End. :)

And Currently ,I've a iball cabinet ,4 years Old with 2 Case Fan(1 no. in Front Bezel,1 no. used for cooling GPU pci-e) Recommend Me a Good Cabinet Preferably Coolermaster.

Where Can I Buy AMD Processor? Is it Ingram the Distributor?

Thanks For All the Support,

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

As far as the cabinet is concerned,I'd recommend going for a CM Elite 430. I reviewed a lot of other options before I ordered one from SMC and there is nothing better than that at the price range. It's 2.7k (Shipping Included) and you can add five more fans to it making a total of six. You can probably add the fans from your old iball case. Also it's all black, exterior and interior and comes with a transparent side panel.

Cheers.

Re: Advice needed Regarding Upgrading to i3/AMD option :

Thanks @Rogues.

For PII X6 1055T ,Is MSI 890GXM-G65(~7k) ,the Apt Choice for Motherboard? :-| OR Is 890GX Really be the Choice for PII X6 Processor ?

Will Phenom II X6 1075T Release this Quarter? Will There any Price Revision Imminent?
