Advice on 40" LED TV without 3D

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a 40" 0r 42" LED TV without 3D facility. Budget 60k max. Can you please suggest few models. I hear SONY is the best, but they are highly priced and may not play all video format in USB. Similarly I'll connect home theater system as audio output. hence it should also support it.

Please suggest.

Samsung 40D5900.

Only issue is panel lottery, besides that no one can complaint.

Sony and even LG have issues with playing all formats through USB unlike Samsung.

You could even look at the Panasonic 42" Plasma, its output is any day better than an LCD/LED. And you could get a Media player after that which would take care of the format issue.

mjumrani - I am also in the boat of purchasing a '40' inch TV. I saw Samsung 40D550. It looked good. Besides that which other TV's do you recommend. I have a budget of around 40k. I do not want other things like Internet etc on TV. Its for my parents so the only purpose is TV with good picture quality.

At that price I would advise a plasma over LCD. I hear Panasonic makes excellent Plasmas.

Else at under 40k and with 40" there are 2 LCDs I can think off Samsung 40D503 and LG 42LK450. Sadly I have no experience of either.

please avoid samsung 40D503. not worth the money.

alternatives sony 40 Cx420 , LG 40LK430/450.

How do you rate LG 40LK430/450 over Samsung 40D550. Is it better in picture quality ?.

samsung trumps the LG in USB video playback.

thats my observation using 1080p youtube music videos and some 1080p movies i played in the showroom.

the advantage with LG is the 2 " real estate and possible cheaper prices.
 
well, I have purchased a LG 3D LED and it plays almost all formats. at least the ones I have. Tell me if I am missing any format.
