Q: What is your budget?
Max 15k
Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
Not Relevant
Q: Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
Monitor - Samsung 22inch monitor [don't remember the model posting from office :) ]
transcend 4GB RAM
Keyboard and Mice

Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
CPU - ATOM or Any other comparable
Motherboard - E350IA-E45 (This looks to be a good board to me)
Cabinet - Iball Nettop

Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
Yes, will upgrade the following within 6 months
Blu Ray Drive

Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
Chennai
Open to online purchase

No

Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
HTPC
Download rig, 24x7 operation
Watching HD movies
File server (if possible)

Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
none

Q: What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage

Desktop - 1080p

Q: Are you looking to overclock?
No

Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?

Not sure either to go with Ubuntu or 7 ultimate (advice needed)

You can go with either the Atom or E350, not both. The atom will come with a mobo, and so will the E350.

Go with the E350, its better for HTPC usage. Compared to atom, power draw is more but its iGPU is much better.

My preference is MSI E350IA-E45. Just wanted to know if there is something better out there. :)

One of my main requirement is that the MOBO should have an PCIx slot so that i can attach my RAID enclosure to it.

Components Description Price (INR)

Processor AMD E350 -

Motherboard MSI E350IA-E45 7350

HDD Seagate 1TB 7200.12 2750

GPU Integrated AMD HD 6310 -

ODD Sony DVD-RW 950

Assuming you have the Cabinet, K/b &M, SMPS and all the other requisite components, you will need to spend extra on TV tuner, cables etc.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

It has 1 PCIe x4 slot.

Thanks for the above. I am all set with HDD,and in near future i will be getting the Blu Ray drive, Can you suggest me a good Cabinet along with smps. I was looking at Iball nettop cabinet .

Edit : Just checked Delta Peripherals page.

Hey guys i was trying to get MSI E350IA-E45 in Chennai but having hard time finding it I have consulted with both challenger computers and delta peripherals both of them don't have the stock. I also tried ebay still no go. Can some one point me in the direction on where to get this board. My preference is to directly visit the shop in Chennai and collect the board but also open to our TE Vendors who can provide this and also to online purchase.

And the Silverstone cabby price has fallen to 4.1K. Another point is that vantheman has a mini ITX cabby, he is selling it for ~ 1.5K. take a look at that too.

Also do not go for a BD ROM now, stick with DVD RW. If you do plan to get a BD ROM, go instead with a LG BD RW, 6.5K from primeABGB. BD ROM Lite on is ~5K

Thanks for the advice guys i think i will get the Gigabyte Board. As far as the cabinet goes i have already got the iBall Nettop cabinet.
